Rail and drainage projects
At Bhopa Bazaar, he is scheduled to inaugurate a completed railway overbridge built for ₹59.44 crore and inaugurate or lay foundations for 84 projects costing ₹287.56 crore. The overbridge crosses railway level crossing 147B on the Gorakhpur–Bhatni section and features murals depicting the Chauri Chaura event.
The completed first phase of the Gorakhpur drain project, costing ₹495.24 crore, is also due to be inaugurated. It includes a 9.25-km drain, 17.5 km of interceptor sewer and a 38-million-litre-per-day sewage treatment plant. Foundations are planned for the second phase, a parallel road and Zone A-3 of the Gorakhpur sewerage scheme. Phase two is budgeted at ₹92.72 crore; the 7.75-km road at ₹65.93 crore. Zone A-3, under AMRUT 2.0, is estimated to cost ₹721.40 crore and includes about 350 km of sewer lines.
Important Facts for Exams
- Grade separation: Railway overpasses replace level crossings, allowing trains to run without conflict with road and pedestrian traffic.
- Treatment stages: Sewage treatment commonly has primary and secondary stages; advanced treatment can add a tertiary polishing and nutrient-removal stage.
- Centralised collection: A centralised sewerage system conveys sewage to a municipal treatment plant through a network of pipes and pump stations.
