What is Cobble?
Cobble is a type of water-worn stone which is larger than a pebble, but smaller than a boulder. Generally Cobble is 60-200 mm in diameter. In U.S.A it is defined by the Wentworth Scale as between 64-256 mm.
Paving with cobblestones allows a road to be heavily used all year long. It prevents the build-up of ruts often found in dirt roads. It has the additional advantage of not getting muddy in wet weather or dusty in dry weather.
