Protocol signed for Export of FCV tobacco to China

In a written to Rajya Sabha today, November 29, 2019, The Minister of Commerce and Industry, Piyush Goyal had informed that the Union Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare of India and the General Administration Customs of the Peoples Republic of China (GACC) had signed a phytosanitary protocol on January 21, 2019, at Beijing, China.

The protocol will push the export of primarily produced FCV tobacco from Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh to China.
China is the largest consumer of tobacco in the world, exports of tobacco to China will revive the conditions of the farmers in both the states of India economically and competitively.

India has not signed any protocol agreements to export tobacco with any other country.
