Indian Railways WhatsApp Food Delivery Facility

The IRCTC is serving at least fifty thousand meals a day to the passengers on board. Lately, there have been issues rising around unauthorized food delivery. To enhance its services and to provide authorized safe food to its customers, IRCTC launched WhatsApp Food Delivery Facility. The WHATSAPP NUMBER is +91 – 8750001323.

How does the service operate?

The service is available only to passengers reserving tickets online. Also, it is not applicable for customers using passenger trains, metro or local trains. It involves two stages. In the first stage, the IRCTC Whats App number sends a message to the customer booking the ticket. The message will ask if the customer would like to avail of the e – catering services of IRCTC. A message will further say, if he is interested, he shall visit the link The site has a list of menus. The customers shall choose the meals and also the choice of restaurant. The link will list the restaurants available on his route.

In the nest stage, two-way communication is established through Whats APP between the passenger and IRCTC. An AI Chatbot will attend to the queries of the passenger.

Why is the app being launched?

To stop unauthorized food distributors in the chain of IRCTC catering services. Recently IRCTC found 11 unauthorized catering services. They posed to be representatives from IRCTC services. But they weren’t. IRCTC announced the names of these unauthorised food services. They were Food in Train, Train Food, Food on Wheel, E – rail, Travel Zaika, Railyatri, Khanna online, Khana Gadi, Travel Food, etc.
