Goldman Environmental Prize

The Goldman Environmental Prize is awarded every year in April to coincide with the World Earth Day. The prize aims to honor the personalities who have contributed significantly for protection of the Environment, contributed to protect natural habitats and raised voice for political change.

Every year 6 awards are given for activists, each from six continents -Africa, Asia, Europe, Islands & Island Nations, North America, and South & Central America. The awardees are selected by a panel of international jury from a set of nomination submitted by environmental organization and individuals. The award carries a monetary prize and a bronze sculpture called the Ouroboros.  Kristal Ambrose, Leydy Pech, Lucie Pinson, Nemonte Nenquimo, Paul Sein Twa and Chibeze Ezekiel are the winners of 2020 Prize, also called as ‘Green Nobel’.
