11th National Street Food Festival begins in New Delhi

The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) in collaboration with the National Association of Street Vendors of India (NVSVI) is organizing the 11th edition of the National Street Food Festival. The five-day festival begins on Wednesday, December 25, 2019, and will continue up to the 29th of December. The festival with a vibrant representation of tastes from across the country is organized at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in New Delhi. The exhibition of stalls has been made according to four divisions- north, south, west, and east.

The theme of the 11th National Street Food Festival: Healthier Diets

To adhere to food safety standards, the participating vendors are provided with a kit containing gloves, aprons, etc, and have been provided training on safety and hygiene. The event is organized for bringing the street food vendors into the mainstream.  This year the National Association of Street Vendors of India expects more than 75,000 people to visit the festival.

The FSSAI will also be organizing its ‘ National Eat Right Mela’ during the National Street Food Festival to promote healthy foods for a healthier life. This will be the second edition of the National Eat Right Mela.

The National Association of Street Vendors of India is a network of 636 street vendors association from 26 states across the country. Over 8,67,426 vendors are registered under the 636 vendors association. About 130 street food vendor is participating in this year’s festival.
