Swasth Nari Sashakt Parivar Abhiyaan

The Swasth Nari Sashakt Parivar Abhiyaan (SNSPA) was launched on 17 September 2025 by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. It marks the largest health outreach programme for women and children in India. This campaign aims to improve healthcare access, quality, and awareness for women and children nationwide. Over 10 lakh health camps will be held across government and private health facilities from 17 September to 2 October 2025.
Objectives
SNSPA focuses on strengthening preventive, promotive, and curative health services for women and children. It targets early screening and treatment for diseases such as cancer, anaemia, tuberculosis, sickle cell disease, hypertension, and diabetes. The campaign also promotes maternal, child, and adolescent health through immunisation, nutrition, menstrual hygiene, and mental health awareness. It encourages healthy lifestyles, including obesity prevention and voluntary blood donation.
Implementation and Reach
Health camps will be organised at Ayushman Arogya Mandirs, Community Health Centres, District Hospitals, and other government facilities. Private hospitals and medical colleges will support specialist services in gynaecology, paediatrics, dermatology, psychiatry, and more. Central government institutions like AIIMS, ESIC, and CGHS centres will complement these efforts. The campaign leverages grassroots workers such as ASHAs, Anganwadi workers, and youth volunteers for community mobilisation.
Significance
The campaign is dedicated to mothers and sisters to ensure they do not fall victim to life-threatening illnesses due to lack of awareness or resources. Special focus is on tribal women affected by sickle cell anaemia, with free testing and treatment available. The initiative aligns with broader goals to reduce maternal mortality rate (MMR) and infant mortality rate (IMR).
Integration with Existing Schemes
SNSPA complements government programmes like the Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana, which has benefited over 4.5 crore pregnant women since 2017. The Abhiyaan also supports the National Sickle Cell Anaemia Mission, which has screened over 5 crore people and saved many tribal lives. Ayushman Bharat cards provide financial protection for further treatment beyond the camps.
Community Participation
The campaign is a Jan Bhagidaari (people’s participation) initiative, involving central and state governments, private sector hospitals, NGOs, and community groups. Public representatives and volunteers play a vital role in mobilising women and families to participate in health screenings and awareness activities. This inclusive approach aims to ensure sustainability and wide coverage.
