Supreme Court Upholds Telangana’s Title to 550 Acres
The Supreme Court of India on 29 October 2026 dismissed appeals by private claimants over about 550 acres of Telangana government land in Miyapur village, Ranga Reddy district. A two-judge Bench upheld the State’s title, ending a legal dispute that had continued for nearly 23 years.
The ruling
The land is in Survey Nos. 100 and 101. The Court found that revenue entries relied on by the claimants were fraudulent and could not establish ownership. The appeals challenged a 2003 Andhra Pradesh High Court judgment that had ruled against the claimants.
The State relied on historical records, including Sethwar and Khasra registers. The Court also held that limited rights arising from historical grants had been extinguished by jagir abolition laws.
