Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has been awarded the Lee Kuan Yew Exchange Fellowship, recognizing his contributions to the development of Assam. The Fellowship is named after Singapore’s founding Prime Minister, Mr. Lee Kuan Yew, and is awarded to individuals who have made significant contributions to their nation’s development and bilateral relations with Singapore.
He is the first Chief Minister from Assam to receive this honor, joining the ranks of distinguished recipients like Arun Shourie, Shivraj Singh Chouhan, and Montek Singh Ahluwalia.

Notes:
The Ministry of Finance approved a series of welfare measures for the benefit of Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC) agents and employees.
The welfare measures are related to the amendments to LIC (Agents) Regulations, 2017, Enhancement of Gratuity Limit, and Uniform Rate of Family Pension among others. It will benefit more than 13 lakhs agents and more than 1 lakh regular employees.

The Indian Army is emphasizing long-range and augmented firepower with the induction of Dhanush artillery guns, expansion of the Pinaka Multi-Rocket Launch Systems (MRLS) range, and the induction of the Pralay surface-to-surface quasi-ballistic missile.
The Army has ordered 114 Dhanush guns, with one regiment already operational, and expects to receive all guns by 2026. Dhanush is a 155 mm, 45-caliber towed artillery gun with a range of 36 km, upgradable to 38 km. The Pinaka MRLS, developed by DRDO, is being expanded, with efforts to increase its range to 120 km and 300 km.

The Supreme Court of India has decided to review the 1998 P V Narasimha Rao case, which granted legislators immunity against criminal prosecution for bribery charges related to their parliamentary activities.
A 5-judge Constitution Bench, led by Chief Justice D Y Chandrachud, has referred the matter to a 7-judge Bench. This case originated from the 1993 JMM bribery case. Articles 105(2) and 194(2) of the Indian Constitution grant privileges to members of Parliament and State Legislatures.

The 5th International Trade Fair and Conference- ‘Windergy India 2023 Summit’ is set to commence in Chennai, the capital city of Tamil Nadu.
As part of the success of the Indo-Danish Energy partnership, a big delegation will be participating in the Windergy India 2023 summit. Denmark had a renewable energy capacity of 2.3 gigawatt (GW).

Haryana submitted its ‘State Action Plan for Management of Paddy Stubble Burning’ to Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM).
In the plan, Haryana aims to significantly reduce and potentially eliminate fire incidents resulting from paddy stubble burning this year. To achieve this, the state plans to implement bio-decomposer applications in 5 lakh acres of land during the current harvesting season.
