The Indian government has announced the establishment of Rashtriya Vigyan Puruskar, a series of awards to honor scientists in India.
These awards will be presented under four categories, including Vigyan Ratna for lifetime achievement, Vigyan Shri for distinguished contributions, Vigyan Yuva Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar to encourage young scientists, and Vigyan Team for recognizing teams of scientists. The Goods and Services Tax Network (GSTN) in India has introduced ‘Geocoding’ functionality to identify and locate businesses accurately across all states and union territories.
This technology helps tax authorities pinpoint the geographical coordinates of properties and taxpayers, facilitating the detection of tax evaders and eliminating fake registrations.

Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) consulted stakeholders on ‘National Broadcasting Policy’.
As per TRAI, the Policy may provide a common approach for licenses, oversight, and compliances. The government is seeking to bring further parity in how digital and legacy mediums like television and OTT streaming are regulated.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone of an international cricket stadium in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh.
The stadium is inspired by Lord Shiva and will be constructed on an expanse of more than 30 acres. It will have a capacity of 30,000 spectators, which can be expanded to 40,000 in the future.

British Prime Minister is Rishi Sunak is scheduled to convene the Artificial Intelligence (AI) safety summit in November, this year.
It will bring together governments, technology firms, and scholars to discuss on the hazards presented by the technology. The European Union is considering whether to send officials to Britain’s summit.

Electrolysers are instruments employed in the industrial process of splitting water molecules into hydrogen and oxygen by utilizing electricity generated from renewable sources like solar, wind, or nuclear power.
According to a recent report by the International Energy Agency, China is expected to have authority over 50% of the global installed capacity of electrolysers for low-carbon hydrogen production by the conclusion of 2023, despite a decrease in new projects due to rising inflation.

The country’s largest lender – State Bank of India, has raised Rs 10,000 crore at a coupon rate of 7.49 percent through its fourth infrastructure bond issuance.
The investors were from provident funds, pension funds, insurance companies, mutual funds, corporates. The proceeds of bond issue will be utilised in enhancing long-term resources for funding infrastructure and the affordable housing segment.

Goa State Shack Policy 2023-2026 was recently approved by the state government.
The shack policy permits unemployed individuals who are residents of Goa to run “temporary” beachfront shacks during the prime tourist season spanning from September 1 to May 31.

Foreign Contribution (Regulation) Amendment Rules, 2023 was issued recently by the Ministry of Home Affairs.
As per the revised guidelines, NGOs were mandated with FCRA licence to submit details of movable and immovable assets created out of foreign contributions.

The Center has granted an extension to Amit Khare, a retired IAS officer, to continue serving as an Adviser to the Prime Minister.
His extension will be in effect until the Prime Minister’s term concludes, aligning with the Prime Minister’s tenure. Khare assumed the position of Adviser to Prime Minister Narendra Modi under a two-year contract, starting from 2021.
