Notes:
The Railway Board in India has significantly increased ex-gratia payments for victims of train accidents and untoward incidents. The ex-gratia relief amounts, last revised in 2012 and 2013, have been increased by tenfold.
The circular states that relatives of deceased passengers in train accidents and manned level crossing accidents will now receive Rs 5 lakh, while grievously injured passengers will be awarded Rs 2.5 lakh. Passengers with simple injuries will receive Rs 50,000. Previously, these amounts were much lower, at Rs 50,000, Rs 25,000, and Rs 5,000, respectively.

Notes:
The words “Socialist” and “Secular” were added to the Preamble through the Constitution (42nd Amendment) Act, 1976, during the period of Emergency under Prime Minister Indira Gandhi’s government.
Recently, it was claimed that the words “socialist” and “secular” were missing from the Preamble of the copies of the Constitution handed out to Member of Parliaments while moving to the new Parliament building.

Young Indian wrestler Antim Panghal secured a bronze medal in the women’s 53 kg category at the ongoing World Championships in Belgrade, Serbia.
She also secured Paris Olympics 2024 quota for India. 19-year-old Antim beat two-time European Champion Emma Jonna Denise Malmgren in the bronze medal bout by 16-6.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the ‘International Lawyers’ Conference 2023’ at Vigyan Bhawan in New Delhi.
Organised by the Bar Council of India, the International Lawyer’s Conference 2023 focuses on the theme of ‘Emerging Challenges in the Justice Delivery System’.

US based chipmaker Micron Technology carried out the groundbreaking of its $2.75 billion assembly, testing and packaging plant (ATMP) in Sanand, Gujarat.
The project marks the largest investment under the India Semiconductor Mission (ISM). Tata Projects announced its collaboration with Micron Technology to construct an advanced semiconductor assembly and test plant in Sanand and said it will roll out semiconductor chips next year.

The country’s largest lender – State Bank of India, has raised Rs 10,000 crore at a coupon rate of 7.49 percent through its fourth infrastructure bond issuance.
The investors were from provident funds, pension funds, insurance companies, mutual funds, corporates. The proceeds of bond issue will be utilised in enhancing long-term resources for funding infrastructure and the affordable housing segment.

The Department of Drinking Water and Sanitation of Ministry of Jal Shakti has introduced the Unified Registration Portal for GOBARdhan to simplify the process of registering Compressed Bio-Gas (CBG) and biogas facilities across the country.
Currently, there are more than 1,163 biogas plants and 426 CBG plants registered on the portal, making them eligible for support through the Market Development Assistance (MDA) scheme offered by the Department of Fertilizers.

The 359th Report on the Functioning of Archaeological Survey of India has recommended ‘rationalising’ protected monuments, and rules governing them.
It has also prompted inquiries into the operational aspects of the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI), the entity responsible for overseeing all Cultural Property Museums (CPMs) in India, including its management, security measures, preservation efforts, and the overall maintenance of historical sites.

The maiden ‘Joint Doctrine Review Conference – 2023’ (JDRC-2023) was conducted at the Manekshaw Centre, New Delhi.
The conference was chaired by Air Marshal Jeetendra Mishra, the Deputy Chief of Integrated Defence Staff (Doctrine Organisation and Training).

Notes:
In Telangana, Pembarthi and Chandlapur have been chosen by the Ministry of Tourism as the best tourism villages in Telangana for the year.
Union Tourism Minister G. Kishan Reddy said both the villages will receive awards on the occasion of World Tourism Day during a special function in New Delhi. The Centre recognised the handicrafts and tourism places in Telangana and had recognised Bhoodan Pochampalli as a tourism village two years ago.
