Notes:
A new report from UNESCO reveals that slow progress on achieving the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) of education for all, combined with socio-economic pressures and the mass exclusion of girls from education in Afghanistan, has widened the global educational gap.
The report states that there are now 250 million children not enrolled in school, an increase of six million since 2021. To meet the 2030 targets of SDG 4 (Quality Education), a new child needs to join school every two seconds.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the ‘International Lawyers’ Conference 2023’ at Vigyan Bhawan in New Delhi.
Organised by the Bar Council of India, the International Lawyer’s Conference 2023 focuses on the theme of ‘Emerging Challenges in the Justice Delivery System’.

US based chipmaker Micron Technology carried out the groundbreaking of its $2.75 billion assembly, testing and packaging plant (ATMP) in Sanand, Gujarat.
The project marks the largest investment under the India Semiconductor Mission (ISM). Tata Projects announced its collaboration with Micron Technology to construct an advanced semiconductor assembly and test plant in Sanand and said it will roll out semiconductor chips next year.

China and Syria announced the formation of a strategic partnership as Chinese leader Xi Jinping kicked off a series of diplomatic meetings ahead of the upcoming Asian Games.
The Syrian leader attended the Asian Games opening ceremony along with the king of Cambodia, the crown prince of Kuwait and the prime ministers of Nepal, East Timor and South Korea.

Indian Sign Language Research and Training Centre (ISLRTC), New Delhi under the aegis of Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, celebrated ‘International Day of Sign Languages’ -2023 on 23rd September 2023.
The theme of this year Sign Language Day-2023 is “A World Where Deaf People Everywhere Can Sign Anywhere!”

Arvind Singh and Arjun Lal Jat won India’s first medal of the 2023 Hangzhou Asian Games with a silver in the men’s lightweight double sculls.
At Tokyo 2020, this duo finished 11^th, which is India’s best-ever finish in Olympics rowing. Later, Babu Lal Yadav and Lekh Ram won bronze in the men’s pair final.

The Indian women’s cricket team, led by captain Harmanpreet Kaur, recently clinched the gold medal at the Asian Games 2023 in Hangzhou, China.
In their debut appearance at the Asian Games, the Indian women’s cricket team secured a gold medal, defeating Sri Lanka.

Notes:
The Center has granted an extension to Amit Khare, a retired IAS officer, to continue serving as an Adviser to the Prime Minister.
His extension will be in effect until the Prime Minister’s term concludes, aligning with the Prime Minister’s tenure. Khare assumed the position of Adviser to Prime Minister Narendra Modi under a two-year contract, starting from 2021.

The maiden ‘Joint Doctrine Review Conference – 2023’ (JDRC-2023) was conducted at the Manekshaw Centre, New Delhi.
The conference was chaired by Air Marshal Jeetendra Mishra, the Deputy Chief of Integrated Defence Staff (Doctrine Organisation and Training).

The Indian Air Force (IAF) formally began phasing out its legacy HS-748 Avro transport aircraft from service when the first C-295 MW transport aircraft was inducted into service in a formal ceremony at the Hindon Air Force Station.
The first aircraft was inducted into the No. 11 Squadron, ‘The Rhinos’, based in Vadodara.
