Andhra Pradesh Governor S Abdul Nazeer has unveiled six special postal covers in tribute to  Alluri Sitarama Raju. These commemorative postal covers mark the centenary of the Chilli Post, issued by the Department of Posts as part of the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav celebrations.
Alluri Sitarama Raju’s unique method of sending advance messages to officials, using arrows with attached messages and chili peppers, became known as the “CHILLI POST.” The Rampa Rebellion, initiated by Alluri in 1922 with tribal support, continued until 1927 when Alluri martyred himself.

Notes:
The President of India Droupadi Murmu has inaugurated the National e-Vidhan Application (NeVA) project at the Gujarat Assembly. This initiative aims to make legislative proceedings paperless and more efficient. The project was launched on the opening day of the four-day monsoon session of the State Assembly.
The National e-Vidhan Application (NeVA) project makes Gujarat Assembly’s proceedings fully digital.

Phase 2 of the 21st edition of Varuna bilateral exercise between Indian and French Navy was conducted in the Arabian Sea.
The exercise witnessed participation of guided missile frigates, tanker, Maritime Patrol Aircraft and integral helicopters from the two sides. The first phase of ‘Varuna-2023’ was conducted off India’s Western Seaboard.

The Indo-Australian tennis pair Rohan Bopanna-Matthew Ebden lost to the defending US Open men’s doubles champions Rajeev Ram-Joe Salisbury, in the finals of US Open.
Rajeev Ram and Joe Salisbury became the first men’s doubles team at the US Open to achieve a three-peat in more than 90 years.

The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS), India’s National Standards Body, has initiated a comprehensive outreach program to raise awareness and encourage compliance with Indian standards at the grassroots level.
This initiative aims to sensitize Gram Panchayat Presidents and Secretaries across the country, emphasizing the importance of adhering to Indian Standards while implementing government programs and schemes in villages.

The Joe Biden administration has taken steps to secure the release of five American citizens detained in Iran by issuing waivers allowing international banks to transfer USD 6 billion in frozen Iranian funds from South Korea to Qatar without fear of American sanctions.
In exchange, the U.S. has agreed to release five Iranian citizens held in the United States. This move marks a significant development in diplomatic relations between the U.S. and Iran.

The Ministry of Jal Shakti’s Department of Water Resources, River Development, and Ganga Rejuvenation is organizing the International Conference on Dam Safety (ICDS) in Jaipur.
The conference was inaugurated under the theme “Safe & Secure Dams Ensure Nation’s Prosperity.”  With India hosting over 6,000 dams, this event focuses on enhancing dam safety, discussing cutting-edge topics, and highlighting the Dam Rehabilitation and Improvement Project (DRIP) Phase II and III.

Scientists at the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) have unveiled a groundbreaking approach for cancer treatment with the potential for early detection and the targeted elimination of lung and cervical cancer cells.
India is projected to witness approximately 29.8 million cancer cases by 2025, particularly in North and northeast regions.

Aditya-L1 is the first Indian space-based observatory to study the Sun from a halo orbit around the first Sun-Earth Lagrangian point (L1), which is located roughly 1.5 million km from the Earth.
The first, second and third earth-bound manoeuvre was successfully performed on September 3, 5 and 10 respectively. The manoeuvres are being performed during the spacecraft’s 16-day journey around the Earth during which the spacecraft will gain the necessary velocity for its further journey to L1.

The American government’s Development finance institution has approved investing up to $425 million in TP Solar, a subsidiary of Tata Power Renewable Energy (TPREL), for the Indian firm’s greenfield solar cell plant in Tirunelveli district of Tamil Nadu.
The 4.3 gigawatt (GW) plant’s first module production is expected by this year’s end. TPREL is a subsidiary of Tata Power, one of India’s largest integrated power companies.
