The iconic Mount Fuji in Japan has witnessed a dramatic increase in visitors, with over 5.1 million tourists between 2012 and 2019.
This has led to concerns about ecological damage and safety risks to the mountain ecosystem. Visitors, including those climbing at night to witness the sunrise, have overwhelmed the region. Facilities catering to tourists rely on diesel generators, leading to environmental concerns, while overcrowding and breaches of etiquette have become common.

The West Bengal Legislative Assembly passed a resolution declaring ‘Poila Baisakh’, the first day of the Bengali calendar, as ‘Bangla Dibas’ or West Bengal Foundation Day.
The resolution was passed after a debate in the Assembly, with 167 MLAs voting in support of the resolution and 62 MLAs opposing the motion.

Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment has unveiled five groundbreaking initiatives including the PM Daksh-DEPwD portal for skill training and employment opportunities, the release of anonymous data through the Unique Disability ID (UDID) portal, collaboration with the Council of Architecture for universal accessibility courses.
It includes a compilation of disability rights court judgments, and an online case monitoring portal by the Chief Commissioner for Persons with Disabilities (CCPD).

The prestigious Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar Awards for 2022 were recently announced after a one-year delay. These awards, which recognize outstanding scientists under 45 years of age, were presented to 12 exceptional researchers in various fields of science.
The awards were announced during the launch of the ‘One Week One Lab’ program by CSIR-National Institute of Science Communication and Policy Research.

India proposed to launch a G-20 Satellite Mission for Environment and Climate Observation, with an aim to help the countries of the Global South.
Prime Minister Modi said the G-20 satellite mission would be beneficial for all of humanity just as the data obtained from India’s successful Chandrayaan moon mission.

It aims to provide reliable, convenient, safe, and economical mobility solutions for personal travel and commute of Naval personnel and their families across the country.

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh virtually inaugurated 90 infrastructure projects built by the Border Roads Organisation (BRO) at a cost exceeding ₹2,900 crore.
The projects span 11 States and Union Territories, including two revamped airfields, Bagdogra and Barrackpore, in West Bengal, and the Nyoma airfield in Eastern Ladakh, which will boost air infrastructure and augment the Indian Air Force’s (IAF) capabilities along the Northern border.

On the birth anniversary of Dravidian icon C N Annadurai 15 September, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin launched ₹1,000 monthly financial assistance scheme for women.
The state identified 1.06 crore women who will benefit from the Kalaignar Magalir Urimai Thogai (women’s basic income) scheme.

ITI Limited, a Central PSU under the Union Ministry of Communications, said it had developed its own laptop and “mini PC” that match international quality and performance.
The laptop  has been named “SMAASH” and it is winning against global brands ITI has partnered with Intel for design and manufacturing.

India and the United States decided to end disputes over the import of poultry products and to reduce import tariffs on apples, almonds, chickpeas and lentils.
Farmers and traders associations fear that the new agreements signed will harm the interests of farmers and small and medium industries in the poultry sector.
