The President of India Droupadi Murmu has inaugurated the National e-Vidhan Application (NeVA) project at the Gujarat Assembly. This initiative aims to make legislative proceedings paperless and more efficient. The project was launched on the opening day of the four-day monsoon session of the State Assembly.

Vadodara based Gati Shakti Vishwavidyalaya (GSV), which is a central university under the administrative control of the Ministry of Railways has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Airbus, a leading global player in aerospace.
The MoU aims for holistic development of academic curricula, faculty, industrial experience, training and scholarships, job creation and collaboration with international institutes.

Sir Ian Wilmut, renowned for leading the scientific team behind the creation of Dolly the sheep, the world’s first cloned mammal from an adult cell, has died at the age of 79.
Dolly was the first animal cloned from a cultured mammary cell, combining cells from two different sheep. This achievement sparked public debate on the ethics of cloning and its potential implications for humans. Prof Wilmut’s research continued in the field of stem cells and regenerative medicine, and he was knighted in 2008 for his contributions to science.

India and the UK have announced the launch of an infrastructure financing bridge to facilitate major infrastructure projects, as revealed by India’s Finance Minister, Nirmala Sitharaman.
The two nations have also agreed to conduct investment negotiations concurrently with goods negotiations as part of their free trade agreement (FTA) discussions.

The Ministry of Jal Shakti’s Department of Water Resources, River Development, and Ganga Rejuvenation is organizing the International Conference on Dam Safety (ICDS) in Jaipur.
The conference was inaugurated under the theme “Safe & Secure Dams Ensure Nation’s Prosperity.”  With India hosting over 6,000 dams, this event focuses on enhancing dam safety, discussing cutting-edge topics, and highlighting the Dam Rehabilitation and Improvement Project (DRIP) Phase II and III.

The Indian Navy signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Uber — the American ride-hailing service.
It aims to provide reliable, convenient, safe, and economical mobility solutions for personal travel and commute of Naval personnel and their families across the country.

Archaeologists have uncovered a Paleolithic cave art site in eastern Spain, believed to be over 24,000 years old. The cave, known as “Cova Dones” or “Cueva Dones,” is situated in the Spain’s Valencia region.
The site contains more than a hundred individual prehistoric paintings and engravings, including depictions of hinds, horses, aurochs, and deer.Notably, most of the paintings were made using clay, which is a rare find at Paleolithic sites.

The Second Edition of ICAR-CIBA’s Shrimp Farmers Conclave-2023 was inaugurated by Union Minister Parshottam Rupala, in Navsari, Gujarat.
Key highlights include the signing of MoU between CIBA and the National Fisheries Development Board (NFDB) for aquaculture crop insurance and technology support for Fish Farmers Producer Organizations (FFPO). A shrimp crop insurance product by Agriculture Insurance Company of India Limited was also launched.

Bharat Lairenjam scored a goal in the first half, while Levis Zangminlun sealed the victory with a second-half goal.

The annual rate of inflation based on all India Wholesale Price Index (WPI) number is (-) 0.52% for the month of August, 2023 (over August, 2022) against (-) 1.36% recorded in July, 2023.
The negative rate of inflation in August 2023 is primarily due to fall in prices of mineral oils, basic metals, chemical & chemical products, textiles and food products as compared to the corresponding month of previous year.
