Mission Arikompan is an operation involving the capture of the wild tusker locally called Arikompan. In an interim order, the Kerala High Court has stayed the state forest department’s decision to capture Arikomban.

The Centre for Policy Research (CPR) released a report analysing all 37 heat action plans (HAPs) across 18 states to evaluate how policy action is keeping up with the warming weather in India.
It finds that heat action plans in India are not only poorly funded but have a weak legal framework.

Dama celiae is an extinct species of fallow deer with two-pointed antlers. It lived Europe during the Pleistocene epoch, around 365,000 and 295,000 years ago.
The fossilized remains of Dama celiae, including a rib with seven cut marks, were collected from the sand quarries of Pedro Jaro I and Orcasitas in the Manzanares valley.

The Centre for Processing Accelerated Corporate Exit (C-PACE) is going to be set up by the Indian Government to process and dispose of applications for removal of company names from the records under the companies law.
It will help ease the process of closing down businesses and getting their names removed from the Register of Companies. Ministry of Corporate Affairs will implement the process.

Nationwide Artificial Insemination Programme (NAIP) is being implemented under the Rashtriya Gokul Mission scheme to promote livestock industry in India.
The implementation of the Artificial Insemination method and other initiatives resulted in milk production in India increasing from 146.31 Million Tonnes in 2014-15 to 220.78 Million in 2021-22.

Saansad Adarsh Gram Yojana was launched by the Central Government to promote the development of rural India. Operational guidelines to implement this scheme was unveiled recently.
The scheme aims to develop Gram Panchayats is envisaged through implementation of existing Government Schemes and Programmes in convergence mode and mobilization of community and private resources.

The International Monetary Fund (IMF) executive board approved a nearly USD 3 billion bailout plan for Sri Lanka recently.
Of the total amount about USD 333 million was to be disbursed immediately to alleviate the country’s humanitarian crisis.

The Mahila Samman Savings Certificate Scheme has been announced in the Union Budget 2023-24. Union Minister of State for Finance announced that the scheme will start in Financial Year 2023-24.
It is a deposit facility up to two lakh rupees in the name of women or girls for a tenure of two years and it was announced that the interest will be 7.5 per cent.

Upward lightning or upward flashes is the event involving the development of the self-initiated lightning streak from a tall object to travel upward toward an overlying electrified storm cloud.
Brazilian researchers have taken pictures of this phenomenon recently.

Metro Railways (Operation & Maintenance) Act 2002 is the law that governs the operations of metro rail systems across India.
The Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs recently proposed amendments to this Act to ensure that no asset of any metro rail can be attached.
