Cyclone Freddy with powerful winds and torrential rain has killed over 100 people in Malawi and Mozambique.
Freddy is on track to become the longest-lasting storm on record, as per the authorities. United Nations also announced that more than 11,000 people were affected by the storm, said the United Nations.

Indian Navy ALH Dhruv experienced a sudden loss of power and rapid loss of height, on a routine flying mission off Mumbai.
Following the incident, Indian defence forces suspended operations of the ALH until the cause of the technical failure is established by investigators.  The ALH Dhruv helicopters serve various purposes for the Indian defence forces, including transportation of personnel and equipment.

The VC-25B or new Air Force One is modified Boeing 747-8i that will replace the US Presidential jet in a few years.
The VC-25B is the military version of the Boeing 747 airliner and is designed for the purpose of presidential transport. It will replace the current aging fleet and will be operated by the United States Air Force (USAF), in conjunction with Marine One helicopters.

The Vayulink, system developed by Wing Commander Vishal Mishra of the Indian Air Force (IAF), has completed operational trials and is set to be deployed in all forward areas.
This data link system enhances battlefield transparency and aids in effective decision-making by integrating inputs from multiple sources to provide real-time data to operators.

American high jumper Dick Fosbury, who revolutionised high jump technique, recently passed away at the age of 76.
Against convention, Fosbury turned his back to the bar and arched his body over it to win gold at the 1968 Mexico City Olympics. The unique method, which he had developed a few years earlier- Fosbury Flop, is now the most used technique around the world.

Exercise Al-Mohed-Al Hindi-23 is a bilateral exercise between the naval forces of India and Saudi Arabia.
It is planned for May this year, to be held in Saudi Arabia’s Jubail. This will be the second such Naval Exercise, while the first one was held in August 2021.

Kodava Hockey Festival is set to be organized in Napoklu town of Karnataka after a gap of 4 years. The annual event is the world’s largest field-hockey tournament.
The Kodava community in the hilly district conducts the inter-family hockey tournament every year where players from over 200 families participate. The only rule of forming a team is that all members must be from the same family.

The Assam Government, during the state budget, announced the strengthening of the Assam Tea Industries Special Incentives Scheme.
The scheme will provide incentives to produce orthodox tea and specialty tea in the north-eastern state.

It is a dedicated accelerator helping women-led startups climb to the next level of progress irrespective of what stage they’re in [idea-stage, MVP, prototype, market-ready ideas] & aims to bridge the gap between women & resources.

The Rajasthan Advocates Protection Bill, 2023 was tabled recently by the state government to provide for the prevention of offenses against advocates like grievous hurt, criminal force, criminal intimidation, and assault.
It aims to prevent the rising cases of violence and false implications against advocates in the state.
