Vice President C. P. Radhakrishnan released the book The Sage who Reimagined Hinduism The Life Lessons and Legacy of Sree Narayana Guru in New Delhi. The book is authored by Shashi Tharoor. It highlights life and teachings of Sree Narayana Guru who worked against caste discrimination and social injustice.

Delhi Lieutenant Governor Vinai Kumar Saxena and Chief Minister Rekha Gupta inaugurated 25 new Atal Canteens. With this, total 71 Atal Canteens are now operational in the city. On 25 December 2025, Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta launched the Atal Canteen Scheme. The canteens provide clean and nutritious meals at affordable prices. Government plans to expand the number to 100 soon. The scheme supports labourers, street vendors, construction workers and rickshaw pullers by ensuring food security, dignity and social inclusion.

World Day of Social Justice is observed annually on 20 February to highlight the need to promote social justice, equality, inclusion, and human dignity across societies. The day was designated by the United Nations on 26 November 2007 to address deep-rooted global challenges such as poverty, unemployment, social exclusion, and inequality. It aims to promote equal opportunities for all and encourage policies that ensure fair access to resources and rights. The 2026 theme, “Renewed Commitment to Social Development and Social Justice,” emphasises inclusive policymaking and targeted actions to reduce social and economic disparities worldwide.

The Andhra Pradesh High Court said tank bunds are part of water bodies and encroachment violates the Public Trust Doctrine. Public Trust Doctrine means the government is custodian of key natural resources for public benefit. It says important resources cannot become private property as they belong to the people. It began in Roman law and developed in English common law. It covers tidal waters, lakes, rivers, wetlands and ecosystems. The State acts as trustee in a fiduciary relationship with the public. Resources must be used for public purpose, not sold, and properly maintained. The Supreme Court of India has recognised it as part of Indian law.

Sarvam AI, a Bengaluru-based startup, unveiled its flagship sovereign Artificial Intelligence models Sarvam 30B and Sarvam 105B at the IndiaAI Impact Summit 2026. These are considered India’s first large-scale foundational Large Language Models (LLMs) developed domestically, marking a major step toward AI self-reliance. Both models are open-source, promoting transparency, innovation, and wider adoption by developers and institutions. The models are optimised for 22 Indian languages across 11 primary scripts, supporting linguistic diversity and digital inclusion.

Poland announced withdrawal from the Ottawa Convention to allow quick deployment of Anti-Personnel Landmines (APLs) along its eastern borders if needed. The Ottawa Convention, also called the Mine Ban Treaty, bans use, production, stockpiling and transfer of APLs. Member countries must destroy stockpiled APLs within 4 years and clear planted mines within 10 years. Extension of up to 10 years can be requested for mine destruction. Countries must submit annual reports on stockpiles, mine locations and destruction progress. The treaty came into force on 1 March 1999 and has unlimited duration.

Election Commission of India (ECI) will hold National Round Table Conference with State Election Commissioners (SECs) on 24 February 2026 at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi after 27 years; last held in 1999. It will be chaired by Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar with Election Commissioners and participation of all States and Union Territories. The objective is to improve coordination between ECI and SECs within their legal frameworks and promote cooperative federalism. Discussions will cover sharing of technology, Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) and Electoral Rolls.

Ministry of Ayush with All India Ayurvedic Congress is organising National Arogya Fair 2026 at Shegaon, Buldhana, Maharashtra from 25–28 February 2026. The objective is to promote Ayush systems and provide free health check-ups, consultations and medicines. It covers Ayurveda, Yoga and Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha, Sowa Rigpa and Homoeopathy. The focus on farmers through medicinal plant cultivation and agroforestry.

The 7th All India Conference of Government Railway Police (GRP) Chiefs, convened by the Railway Protection Force (RPF), held at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi. The conference was presided over by Director General, RPF, Sonali Mishra, and attended by DGPs, ADGPs, and senior GRP officers from various states and union territories. The conference focused on strengthening passenger safety and railway infrastructure security in view of emerging challenges such as organized crime, narcotics trafficking, vandalism, stone pelting, and sabotage.

The Punjab Pollution Control Board launches a special drive to make Holla Mohalla celebrations free from single-use plastic. The initiative receives support from the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee, which manages major gurdwaras. The Jathedar of Sri Akal Takht Sahib appeals to langar committees to replace plastic utensils with steel or biodegradable alternatives. PPCB announces free distribution of biodegradable plates and bowls to langar organisers during the festival. Holla Mohalla takes place from 27 February to 3 March at Anandpur Sahib and Kiratpur Sahib.
