The National Statistics Office under the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation (MoSPI) launched the beta version of the Model Context Protocol (MCP) server for the eSankhyiki portal. Model Context Protocol (MCP) is a technology that allows users to directly connect datasets with their own Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools and applications. It provides a standard method to make official data accessible to Large Language Models (LLMs).

The Department of Science and Technology (DST) strengthened India–Netherlands cooperation by launching the India–Netherlands Hydrogen Fellowship Programme and enabling an academic partnership in green energy. The fellowship is a national capacity-building initiative open to Indian doctoral, postdoctoral, and faculty researchers. It focuses on hydrogen system integration, safety, techno-economic analysis, life-cycle assessment, and indigenisation. DST also hosted the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the University of Groningen and 19 Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs).

Shri Jitin Prasada, Minister of State for Commerce and Industry and Electronics and Information Technology, inaugurated the Standardisation Testing and Quality Certification (STQC) Lab Automation Portal – SATYA. SATYA is a digital initiative under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) to improve transparency and service delivery. The portal brings all STQC certification services onto a single, user-friendly digital platform. It ensures faster, predictable, and transparent certification for citizens, industry, startups, Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), and government bodies.

India and France are discussing a major deal to procure SCALP cruise missiles after their successful use by the Indian Air Force (IAF) in precision strikes during Operation Sindoor. SCALP, also called Storm Shadow, is a long-range, air-launched cruise missile developed jointly by France and the United Kingdom. It is used by several North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) and allied air forces.

Directorate General of Training (DGT) under Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE) implements Craftsmen Training Scheme (CTS) through Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) and National Skill Training Institutes (NSTIs). Training is offered in 169 trades through 14,688 ITIs and 32 NSTIs, with 14.70 lakh trainees enrolled in 2025–26. Curriculum is regularly updated with industry and State/Union Territory (UT) consultation. 31 New Age trades include Artificial Intelligence (AI), Internet of Things (IoT), renewable energy and 3D printing. PM SETU (Pradhan Mantri Skilling and Employability Transformation through Upgraded ITIs) will upgrade 1,000 ITIs with ₹60,000 crore support.

North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) launched new Arctic mission named Arctic Sentry to strengthen regional security. North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) is a political and military alliance formed in 1949 after signing the North Atlantic Treaty. It currently has 32 member countries and headquarters in Brussels, Belgium. Arctic Sentry is led by Joint Force Command Norfolk (JFC Norfolk). Joint Force Command Norfolk (JFC Norfolk) connects North America and Europe within NATO structure. The main aim is to safeguard member nations, protect territory and maintain Arctic stability.

Amazon India partnered with Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Roorkee to develop non-wood paper packaging from agricultural waste. The project will convert crop residues like wheat straw and bagasse into recyclable and home-compostable packaging materials. It aims to reduce stubble burning, lower dependence on imported virgin wood pulp, and create extra income for farmers. Research will be led by Department of Paper and Packaging Technology and INNOPAP Lab at IIT Roorkee over 15 months.

Israel joined United States President Donald Trump’s “Board of Peace” initiative during Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s visit to Washington. Netanyahu signed Israel’s accession and met Trump and Secretary of State Marco Rubio. The Board was authorized by a United Nations Security Council (UNSC) resolution in November to help form an international stabilization force in Gaza. It will supervise Gaza’s temporary governance and discuss reconstruction in its first meeting on February 19 in Washington. The Board plans to expand its role to address global conflicts.

National Legal Services Authority (NALSA) launched NALSA SAMVAD Scheme 2025 in April 2025 to ensure access to justice for Scheduled Tribes (STs), Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Groups (PVTGs) and De-Notified and Nomadic Tribes (DNTs). The scheme creates dedicated district-level SAMVAD Units and deploys trained lawyers and para-legal volunteers from tribal areas. It provides legal aid on land and forest rights, displacement, rehabilitation, documentation and welfare schemes. It promotes legal awareness through door-to-door outreach, camps and Gram Sabha coordination in local languages.

Sekrenyi is a ten-day post-harvest festival celebrated in Nagaland. It is the major annual festival of the Angami Naga tribe and is primarily observed during the month of February. The festival focuses on cleansing, renewal and spiritual sanctification of individuals and community. Rituals begin with people bathing at village wells as a symbol of purity. Angami tribe is a major Naga tribe of Nagaland mainly living in Kohima region and known for rich cultural traditions.
