Purple Fest was hosted at Rashtrapati Bhavan to celebrate the achievements and talents of Divyangjan (persons with disabilities). It is organised by the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment. National Mineral Development Corporation (NMDC) Limited became the first mining company in India to produce 50 million tonnes of iron ore in a single financial year (2025–26). NMDC Limited is a Navratna Central Public Sector Enterprise (CPSE) under the Ministry of Steel. It is the largest producer of iron ore in India and a key organisation for mineral resource development. Its aim is to explore, develop, and sustainably use mineral resources in India. It also ensures stable domestic supply of iron ore for the steel industry. NMDC supports India’s goal to expand steel production capacity to 300 million tonnes by 2030.

Iranian drone strikes on Fujairah in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) have raised concerns over disruption of global energy supply routes. Fujairah is the only UAE emirate located on the eastern coast along the Gulf of Oman and has no coastline on the Persian Gulf. It is separated from the rest of the UAE by the Hajar Mountains. The Port of Fujairah is the world’s fourth-largest bunkering (marine fuel supply) hub after Singapore, Rotterdam, and Zhoushan.

Union Communications Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia inaugurated India’s first Samriddhi Centre at Umri village in Guna district, Madhya Pradesh. The centre is an integrated rural service hub designed to improve service delivery and digital access in villages. It provides multiple services like healthcare, education, banking, agriculture support, and other citizen services at one place. It is part of the Samriddh Gram Phygital Services Pilot Project, combining physical infrastructure with digital technology. The centre aims to ensure seamless and efficient service delivery in rural areas.

The Telangana Government has launched the Indiramma Family Life Insurance Scheme in the 2026–27 Budget. The scheme will provide life insurance coverage of ₹5 lakh per family across the state. It aims to benefit around 1.15 crore families, making it a universal coverage scheme irrespective of income or social category. It will be implemented from June 2, 2026. The scheme is designed to provide financial security to families in case of the sudden death of the earning member.

Rajasthan Government launched Industrial Park Promotion Policy-2026 under CM Bhajanlal Sharma to boost investment, infrastructure, and employment. It aims to develop world-class industrial parks and make Rajasthan a future-ready industrial hub. Policy aligns with Make in India and Atmanirbhar Bharat, promoting balanced regional development. Industrial parks will be developed through four models: private, hybrid land-sharing, and Public-Private Partnership (PPP) modes.

A massive avalanche occurred at Zojila Pass, a key high-altitude pass. It is called the “Mountain Pass of Blizzards” and lies on Srinagar–Kargil–Leh highway (NH-1) in the Greater Himalayas. An avalanche is a sudden movement of a large mass of snow down a slope. It is dangerous as it can bury or sweep away everything in its path. Avalanches are more likely on steep slopes without trees or rocks. These natural barriers usually help in holding snow in place.
