Notes:
The 25T Bollard Pull (BP) Tug, ‘Mahabali’ was launched recently at Shoft Shipyard Pvt Ltd, Bharuch, Gujarat, under the “Make in India” initiative of Ministry of Defence.
This aligns with the “Aatmanirbhar Bharat” initiative of the Government of India, promoting self-reliance and indigenous production.

Notes:
The Defence Ministry has recently entered into an agreement with Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders for the construction of a training ship for the Indian Coast Guard (ICG).
The contract is valued at Rs 310 crores. This is the first dedicated training platform with integral helicopter capabilities that will provide basic sea training to 70 Coast Guards and other international officers.

Notes:
Ministry of Defence signed a contract with Hindustan Shipyard Limited (HSL), Visakhapatnam for acquisition of five Fleet Support Ships (FSS) for the Indian Navy at an overall cost of Rs 19,000 crore. It would be a major boost towards achieving the goal of self-reliance in defence manufacturing as these ships will be indigenously designed and constructed by HSL, Visakhapatnam.

India’s Defence Ministry has decided to replace Microsoft Operating System (OS) in all its computers that can connect to the Internet with Maya.
Maya, which has been developed by Indian government agencies within six months, and is aimed at preventing malware attacks by cybercriminals. The new OS will be backed by a protection system called Chakravyuh.

A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between the Ministry of Defence (MoD) and the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) in the presence of Raksha Mantri Shri Rajnath Singh and Union Health Minister, Dr Mansukh Mandaviya.
It aims for promoting the use of millets and healthy eating practices among the armed forces and ensure availability of safe and nutritious food.

The Ministry of Defence has recently entered into a contract, with Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders Limited (MDL) in Mumbai for the Medium Refit with Life Certification (MRLC) of the Sub-Surface Killer (SSK) Class submarine named “INS Shankush.”
The overall cost of the project amounts to Rs. 2725 Cr. This is the second HDW-class submarine that will undergo MRLC with upgrade of the first one, currently in progress, to be completed by August.

The Ministry of Defence granted approval for the procurement of the Predator (MQ-9 Reaper) drones from the United States.
The deal was approved recently during the Defence Acquisition Council meeting. The final decision on this matter will be made by the Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS).

Notes:
The Ministry of Defence (MoD) has inked a Rs.500 crore contract with ICOMM Tele, for the procurement of 1,035 numbers of 5/7.5 Ton Radio Relay Communication equipment containers. The delivery of the containers is scheduled to commence from the current Financial Year 2023-24.
These containers will be utilized to provide a protected environment for communication equipment to function in a failsafe and reliable manner.

Notes:
Medium Power Radar ‘Arudhra’ is a 4D multi-function phased array radar developed by DRDO and manufactured by BEL (Bharat Electronics Limited).
The Union Ministry of Defence recently entered into a contract with the BEL for the supply of this radar to the IAF.

Notes:
The Union Ministry of Defence has entered into a contract with Hindustan Aeronautics Limited for the purchase of six Dornier-228 aircraft.
They are procured at the cost of Rs.667 crore. The procurement will boost the operational capability of the IAF in remote areas. The Dornier-228 aircraft will be used by the Indian Air Force (IAF) for communication and transport purposes.
