Martyrs’ Day

Martyrs’ Day

Martyrs’ Day is observed on January 30 across India during Mahatma Gandhi’s death anniversary. Also known as Shaheed Diwas, the day seeks to honour all freedom fighters who have lost their lives while taking part in the struggle of independence from the British colonialism. Martyrs day is also observed on March 23 to mark the day when Bhagat Singh, Shivaram Rajguru and Sukhdev Thapar were hanged by the British in 1931.
