LWE areas

LWE areas

LWE areas are regions that have been affected by left wind extremism i.e. insurgency by naxalites and maoists. It stretches across several states, especially Telangana and Chhattisgarh. They together form the ‘red corridor’ in eastern part of India. Recently, a parliamentary standing committee flagged slow construction of roads in these areas as a reason for delayed development and inclusion of the region. The delay has been impeding the efforts of the state police and CAPF in tackling the LWE in the region.
