Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister launched the second phase of the Ladli Laxmi scheme (Ladli Laxmi scheme-2.0) on May 8th, 2022.

What is Ladli Laxmi scheme-2.0?

Ladli Laxmi scheme – 2.0 is an innovative initiative to encourage girl children to pursue higher education and make them self-dependent.

What is the objective of the Ladli Laxmi scheme?

  • Ladli Laxmi Scheme is being implemented by the government of Madhya Pradesh since 2007 to enhance the economic and educational status of the girls.
  • Ladli Laxmi scheme is a comprehensive scheme that offers financial assistance for a girl from birth until her marriage in installments.

What are the eligibility criteria?

  • The family of the girl child should be a permanent resident of Madhya Pradesh.
  • The family should come under below the poverty line (BPL), i.e., should not be an income taxpayer.
  • Maximum of two daughters can be registered under this scheme.

What are the incentives provided to the girl child?

  • The Madhya Pradesh Government purchases a National Savings Certificate worth Rs.6000 for five years for every girl child applied for under this scheme.
  • The first installment of Rs.2000 is made when the candidate is studying the 6th standard.
  • While entering the 9th standard, Rs.4000 is provided. Rs.7500 will be given when the candidate is studying 11th standard and an amount of Rs. 200 is issued every month during the higher education of 12th grade.
  • On completion of 21 years, the candidate will be paid a final payment of Rs.1 lakh if unmarried and desires to pursue higher studies.

What are the achievements of the Ladli Laxmi scheme?

  • The implementation of the scheme has changed the attitude of the society towards girl child, due to which there has been a success in ending social evils like child marriage.
  • In Madhya Pradesh, more than 42 lakh girls have been registered till April 2022 under Ladli Laxmi Scheme.
  • More than 9 lakh girl students have been paid a scholarship amount of Rs 231 crore.
  • The sex ratio at birth in the state has increased from 927 to 956.

What is Ladli e-Samvad?

It is an app launched by the Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister to establish a continuous dialogue with Ladlis. In this app, all Ladli Laxmis will be linked to the education portal through Samagra ID, enabling continuous tracking of their educational status.

What are ‘Ladli Friendly’ gram panchayats?

The Gram Panchayats which take the best care of the girl child will be declared ‘Ladli Friendly’ gram panchayat.
