Karnataka to launch Gram Anubhava programme for urban students on November 1

Karnataka is scheduled to launch the Gram Anubhava programme on November 1, 2026. Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar is due to inaugurate it at 8 a.m. at Bengaluru’s Kanteerava Stadium, with simultaneous launches planned in every district.

Learning through rural visits

The programme is intended for students in Grades 8, 9 and 11 at urban schools. Educational visits will give students opportunities to learn through direct interaction with farmers, artisans, livestock keepers and rural entrepreneurs.

Important Facts for Exams

  • Visit structure: Educational field trips commonly combine preparation, activities at the destination and follow-up classroom discussion, rather than ending with the visit itself.
  • Learning method: Field trips can support observation for education or non-experimental research, exposing students to subjects in settings beyond their everyday activities.
  • Direct farmer markets: Karnataka’s Raitha Santhe markets were designed to let farmers sell produce directly to consumers with fewer conventional intermediaries.
  • Handicrafts retail channel: Karnataka State Handicrafts Development Corporation markets handicrafts through its Cauvery emporia, providing an organised retail channel for artisan products.
