What are main communicable and non-communicable human diseases?

Communicable Disease or infectious disease is resulting from the presence of pathogenic microbial agents, including pathogenic viruses, pathogenic bacteria, fungi, protozoa, multicellular parasites, and aberrant proteins known as prions.
The main communicable diseases are as follows:

Diseases Caused By Virus

These include – AIDS, Chickenpox Poliomyelitis:, Measles, Rubella or German measles, Herpes Simplex, Herpes Zoster, Mumps, Rabies, Trachoma, Influenza, Jaundice (Hepatitis A, Hepatitis B, Hepatitis C), Rabies, Bird Flu, Swine Flu, Chikungunya, Viral Pneumonia, Colds, Typhus, Psittacosis, Dengue etc.

Diseases Caused By Worms

Filariasis, Hookworms, Ascariasis: Ascaris lumbricoides, Taeniasis, Enterobiasis, Schistosomiasis, Elephantiasis etc.

Diseases Caused By Bacteria

These include Tuberculosis, Diphtheria, Diarrhoea, Cholera, Leprosy, Pertussis or Whooping Cough, Tetanus (Lock Jaw), Typhoid, Plague, Gonorrhea, Syphilis, Pneumonia, Salmonellosis, Sore Throat, Bacillary Dysentery, Botulism, Septicaemia, Meningitis, Anthrax, Plague, Psittacosis,typhus, trachoma etc.

Diseases Caused By Fungi

These include Athlete’s Foot or Tinea pedis; Dhobie itch or Tinea cruris; Madura Foot and Ringworm etc.

Diseased Caused by Protozoa

These include Malaria; Trypanosomiasis or Sleeping Sickness; Amoebiasis or Amoebic Dysentery; Leishmaniasis or Kala Azar and Giardiasis.

Non-Communicable Disease

A disease which does not result from the presence of pathogens and may result from the imbalance in the dietary constituents, general wear and tear of tissues and uncontrolled growth of tissues, metabolic disorders or injury to any part of the body is called non communicable disease. The main non-communicable diseases are as follows:
Diseases of Blood Cells

Anemia, Polycythemia, Leucopenia, Hodgkin’s Disease etc.

Metabolic Disorders

Cardiac Dysmetabolic Syndrome or Syndrome X; Blood Lipid Abnormalities etc.

Diseases of Heart

Coronary Heart Disease; Arteriosclerosis; Arthrosclerosis; Plaques; Angina pectoris; Ischaemic heart disease; Hypertensive heart disease; Heart Attack; Hypertension etc.

Diseases of Hormonal Imbalances

Diabetes Mellitus; Diabetes Insipidus; Grave’s Disease; Cretinism; Myxoedema etc.

Diseases of Bones

Rheumatoid Arhtritis; Osteoarthritis; Osteoporosis; Gout; Disc Herniation; Spinal Stenosis; Spondylolistheis; Scitica etc.

Genetic Defects

Down’s Syndrome, Huntington’s Disease, Trisomy 18, Edward Syndrome, Trisomy 13 Patau Syndrome, Turner Syndrome, Klinefelter Syndrome, Jacob Syndrome, Cri du Chat Syndrome, Cystic Fibrosis, Tay Sachs, Phenylketonuria, Sickle cell Anemia, Hemochromatosis, Neurofibromatosis, Huntington’s Disease, Color Blindness, Hemophila, Duchene Muscular Dystrophy etc.
