Disinvestment/Strategic Disinvestment Policy

The Disinvestment/Strategic Disinvestment Policy seeks to reduce the central PSEs’ control and promote investments from private sector. The policy identified 4 strategic sectors that are expected to have minimum presence of public sector enterprises. These sectors include atomic energy, space and defence; transport and telecommunications; power, petroleum, coal and other minerals; banking, insurance and financial services. The CPSEs in non-strategic sectors will be either be fully privatised or closed down.
