DDA Portal 2 for registration of properties in unauthorised colonies launched

Union Housing and Urban Affairs Minister Hardeep Puri formally launched DDA Portal 2 in New Delhi. Now, the residents of 1,731 unauthorised colonies can register their details and upload their documents for verification in the given portal to apply for ownership rights. About 8,268 citizens have already registered on Portal 2 ever since it became operational a fortnight ago. Government notified that out of 1,731 unauthorised colonies, 1,500 have already been demarcated and maps of more than 1,100 have been uploaded on the portal.

This comes after the cabinet, on 23 October 2019, approved ownership rights to more than 40 lakh residents of 1,731 unauthorised colonies in Delhi, however, at present, the properties in these colonies are not registered. Later, Parliament also passed National Capital Territory of Delhi (Recognition of Property Rights of Residents in Unauthorised Colonies) Bill, 2019 which aims to provide legal status to unauthorised colonies in Delhi. The bill is now pending before President for his assent.

In November 2019, Union Housing and Urban Affairs Minister Hardeep Singh Puri announced that residents of unauthorised colonies in colony will be able to apply for ownership rights starting December 16. He had also launched a DDA portal to define and delineate boundaries of unauthorised colonies and seek suggestions and feedback from residents’ welfare associations (RWA) of these colonies within 15 days from date of uploading of maps and boundaries on the portal.

Delhi Development Authority (DDA) is the nodal agency for implementation of regularisation process. It has also established more than 50 helpdesks at various locations including, Dwarka, Karkardooma, Vasant Kunj, Azadpur and Mundka, to address the queries of residents and facilitate all necessary assistance to applicants.
