Telangana Fiber Grid Project

The Government of Telangana recently declared the Telangana fibre grid project as “Vital Public Purpose project”. With this the project will give only 5 days prior intimation to all the authorities concerned before laying the optical fibre cable. The project has been accorded with right of way permission to lay the Optical Fibre network.

Telangana fibre grid

The Telangana fibre grid is a flagship programme of the Government of Telangana. It provides high speed internet to the state. The project was begun in 2017. It aims to provide internet access to improve education and health facilities in the state especially in the rural areas.

The project will provide infrastructure for affordable and high-speed broadband connectivity. It aims to provide Digital Services to 33 districts, 12751-gram panchayat, 10128 villages. The mission will cover more than 3.5 crores of people.

The fibre optic lines for the project are laid along with the drinking water pipe under Mission Bhagiratha. The Telangana government has reduced the digging and trenching costs by Piggybacking on Mission Bhagiratha.

Mission Bhagiratha

It is a safe drinking water mission of Government of Telangana. The project was launched at an estimated budget of 43791 crores of Rupees. The project aims to provide piped water to 20 Lakh households in urban areas and 60 lakh households in rural areas of the state.

Under the project clean drinking water is to be sourced from rivers Godavari and Krishna.

River Godavari

River Godavari is the second longest river in India after the Ganges. The river begins its journey at Triambakeshwar in Maharashtra. It drains in the states of Telangana, Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Odisha. The river flows into the Bay of Bengal. It is also called Dakshin Ganga, that is, Ganges of the South.

River Krishna

River Krishna is the fourth biggest river in terms of water inflows in India after Ganga, Godavari and Brahmaputra. It flows through the states of Maharashtra, Karnataka, Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. It originates in the Western Ghats near Mahabaleshwar.
