Indian Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT-In) under Ministry of Electronics & IT, in collaboration with Cyber Security Agency of Singapore (CSA), successfully designed and conducted the Cyber Security Exercise ‘Synergy’ for 13 Countries.
It was conducted as a part of the International Counter Ransomware Initiative- Resilience Working Group which is led by India under the leadership of National Security Council Secretariat (NSCS). The theme of the exercise was ‘Building Network Resiliency to counter Ransomware Attacks’.

Rachakonda Viswanadha Sastri, popularly known as Raavi Sastry, was a notable writer, lawyer and critic.
The Chief Justice of India, Justice N.V. Ramana, participated as Chief Guest at the centenary celebrations of the noted writer, being organised at Visakhapatnam.

As per the data released by the National Crime Records Bureau, the number of cybercrime incidents in 2021 has gone up by 18.4 per cent since 2019.
The number of such cases against women has risen at 28 per cent. Out of the 52,974 incidents reported in 2021, 20.2 per cent were reported as cases of crime against women. Karnataka had the highest share with 2,243 cases, followed by Maharashtra and Uttar Pradesh.

The strongest tropical storm of 2022, dubbed Super Typhoon ‘Hinnamnor’, has been moving across the western Pacific Ocean with wind speeds of up to 241 kilometres per hour.
It was classified as the category 5 typhoon, the highest classification on the scale. The typhoon is expected to develop further, as it moves towards the Japanese islands. , Japan’s Meteorological Agency has warned of flooding, heavy downpour, landslides and thunderstorm warnings.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah chaired the 30th Southern Zonal Council meeting in Thiruvananthapuram.
In the meeting, 26 issues were discussed, 9 issues were resolved and 17 issues were reserved for further consideration. The main objectives of the Zonal Council meeting are settlement Centre- State disputes and inter-state disputes through mutual agreement, promotion of regional cooperation between States, among others

The Gujarat Science Conclave of State Science & Technology (S&T) Ministers is set to be inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi at Science City, Ahmedabad.
The conclave will include discussions on the theme of ‘Doubling Private Sector investment in R&D by 2030’. All States and UTs will be asked to have individual STI policy on the lines of National STI policy.

Japan’s government has recently declared a war on floppy disks. Japan’s Digital ministry has announced that it will do away with floppy disks and other outdated technology to modernise its bureaucracy.
The magnetic storage disks became obsolete and were phased out globally decades ago. Japan has announced to move administrative procedures online. Used between 1970s and 1990s, a floppy disk is a removable disk storage device used to save computer data and programmes.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina jointly unveiled Unit-I of the Maitree Super Thermal Power Project.
The project is being constructed under India’s concessional financing scheme. It will add 1320 MW to Bangladesh’s National Grid. Seven agreements, including on water resources, railways, science and technology, space technology were exchanged between the Prime Ministers.

The Indian Government, along with the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), has prepared an action plan for facilitation of special rupee accounts for trade settlements.
Banks are asked to speed up the process of opening special rupee vostro accounts (SRVA) of correspondent banks of partner trading countries. This aims to promote cross-border trade in rupees instead of the US dollar.

The World Health Organisation has launched a USD 1.5 billion campaign, to include a new vaccine, to eliminate outbreaks of bacterial meningitis across Africa by 2030.
WHO hopes to authorize the vaccine by the first quarter of 2023, which would enable donors to buy it for Africa. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Meningitis vaccinations for more than 50 million children in Africa have been delayed.
