Notes:
The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) released the ‘Report on Currency and Finance (RCF)’ for the year 2021-22.
As per the report, price stability is a necessary precondition for strong and sustainable growth. It also proposed a seven-point blueprint for reforms. The Indian economy may take 12 years to overcome the losses emanating from the COVID-19 pandemic, which account to Rs 52 Lakh Crores.

Union Bank becomes India’s first public sector bank to go live on Account Aggregator (AA) framework. AAs are licensed by the RBI to enable data flow between Financial Information Providers (FIPs) and Financial Information Users (FIUs).
The framework facilitates sharing of financial information on a real-time basis between regulated entities. Private sector banks like HDFC Bank, ICICI Bank, Axis Bank and Kotak Mahindra Bank are already live as FIPs and FIUs.

State of the World’s Forests (SOFO) Report is a flagship publication of Food and Agricultural Organisation (FAO).
As per the 2022 edition of the report, released during the World Forestry Congress, the world has lost 420 million hectares (mha), approximately 10.34 per cent of its total forest area in the last 30 years. It also warned that 15 per cent of 250 emerging infectious diseases have been linked to forests.

Bengaluru-based Jain (Deemed-to-be University), the host for the Khelo India University Games (KIUG) 2021, has bagged the top position in ‘Khelo India University Games (KIUG) 2021’.
The team won 20 gold, seven silver and five bronze medals. Lovely Professional University (LPU) and Punjab University bagged the first runner-up and the second runner-up positions respectively. In this edition, 2 national records and 76 previous Khelo India University games records were broken.

Under ‘Mukhyamantri Muft Sewer Connection Yojna’, the New Delhi Government will provide 25,000 households of east Delhi with 100 per cent sewer connectivity for free.
The Government has developed out a plan to maximise the potential of the Delhi Jal Board (DJB) through the development of free sewer connections, new sewer lines and reverse osmosis (RO) plants in the state.

Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar launched a Vehicle Movement Tracking System (VMTS) mobile app fortracking vehicles carrying sand and other mining material.
The app will be used at different checkpoints in all the districts of Haryana and it will have all vehicle details like vehicle number, vehicle type, source and destination and driver details like mobile number and driver license number.

Construction and engineering major Larsen & Toubro (L&T) announced the merger of its two software companies, Larsen & Toubro Infotech (LTI) and Mindtree.
The combined entity will be known as “LTIMindtree” and will be headed by the Head of Mindtree. By market capitalisation, the combined entity will surpass Tech Mahindra to become the fifth-largest IT services provider. Currently, TCS ranks first among IT firms with the highest market valuation, followed by Infosys, HCL Tech, Wipro.

As per the new rule released by the Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT-in), VPN companies are asked to collect and preserve data on their clients for a period of five years.
CERT-in, which is overseen by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, issued a new set of guidelines to coordinate response activities as well as emergency measures with respect to cyber security incidents. For five years, data centres and crypto exchanges must keep a wide range of data about their users.

Border Roads Organisation or BRO celebrated its Raising Day on May 7. The Border Roads Organisation, a road construction force in India, is a part of the Indian Armed Forces.
BRO develops and maintains road networks in India’s border areas and friendly neighboring countries. It is celebrating its 63 years of glorious service to the nation. The headquarters of BRO is situated in New Delhi and Director General of BRO is Lt Gen Rajeev Chaudhry.

Every year World Thalassemia day is observed on May 8 across the world, to create awareness about the disease and to sensitise about the struggle of patients suffering from the disease.
Thalassemia is a genetic blood disorder that doesn’t let the body to create enough haemoglobin. The theme for this year’s World Thalassemia day is ‘Be Aware.Share.Care: Working with the global community as one to improve thalassemia knowledge.’
