International Day of Yoga 2019
International Day of Yoga 2019 will be observed on June 21 with the theme ‘Yoga for Heart’. The main event will be held in the city of Ranchi of Jharkhand.
Why June 21 is observed as International Day of Yoga?
The proposal for the International Yoga Day was approved by the United Nations General Assembly on 27 September 2014 based on the request made by Prime Minister Modi. The first International Day of Yoga was observed on June 21, 2015.
June 21 was chosen for the International Day of Yoga owing to the fact that it was the longest day of the year in the Northern Hemisphere and has special significance in many parts of the world.
