Objectively compare the trends in India's food grain production during pre-Green revolution and post-green revolution period.

Hint: During pre-green revolution period, Yield Per Hectare was low for all important crops. However, there was a robust growth in rice yield in pre green revolution period. As modern farm technology, fertilizers and HYV seeds were introduced in late 1960s, the yield of wheat, bajra increased substantially but rice responded very late. Still the productivity remained very low. Further, not very substantial increase was seen in other millets and pulses. Most expansion was seen in Punjab, Haryana and Western UP due to availability of irrigation; large landholdings and reach of new technology. Eastern India did not see any marked progress.
