2019 has been ranked as the worst years in terms of losses to IAF. Comment.
Indian Air Force has recently seen many losses and 2019 has emerged as the worst year as the force has lost 10 planes in this year alone. The recent loss by the crash of AN2 twin-engine turbo-prop military transport aircraft is highly disappointing as all 13 on board are feared dead. In 2019 alone, IAF had lost a Jaguar, a Mirage, 2 hawk aircrafts, a Mi17V5 helicopter.
It points to the fact that the fleet of Airforce is aging and is in dire need of modernization and upgrade. Only upgraded versions of the planes should be used. The induction of Chinook helicopters does suggest upgradation is underway. Apart from acquisition and deployment, there should be regular upgradation of the fleet.
