Appointments made on 2nd December 2019

  • Lieutenant General Podali Shankar Rajeshwar, took over as the Commander-in-Chief of the Andaman and Nicobar Command (CINCAN) on Monday, 2nd December 2019. Lt Gen Rajeshwar is a graduate of the Indian Military Academy (IMA). In December 1980, he was commissioned into the Regiment of Artillery. He had taken part in Operation Rakshak and Operation Meghdoot and has also served as a UN military observer in Rwanda and Mozambique.
  • Senior Japanese government advisor, Masatsugu Asakawa has been selected as the new president of the Asian Development Bank (ADB) on Monday 2, December 2019. He will succeed interim President of the Asian Development Bank, Takehiko Nakao, whose tenure ends on 16th January next month.
    Asakawa will become the 10th President of the Manila-based Asian Development Bank, his tenure as President will run-up to November 2021.
    Asian Development Bank was established on 19th December 1966 with 31 member countries, as a regional development bank. Today the bank has 68 member countries. The bank is an official observer of the United Nations. India holds a 6.331% share as of 31 December 2016 in the Asian Development Bank.
