Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act, 2015

Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act, 2015 allows juveniles of age group 16-18 involved in heinous offences to be tried as adults. It also provided for universally accessible adoption law in the country. The Union Cabinet approved WCD ministry’s proposal to amend this law for strengthening children protection. Inclusion of eligibility criteria for CWC members and additional offences under “serious offence” are some of the other aspects of the proposal.
