Law Commission of India
Law Commission of India is an executive body which advices the ministry of law and justice on matters of legal reforms. For this purpose, it may undertake review of the existing laws, either upon reference made to it by the centre or suo motu. It also identifies obsolete laws and recommends their repeal. It has a fixed tenure and is composed of legal experts. A PIL was filed at the Supreme Court, calling for the declaration of the Law Commission as a ‘statutory body’.
