Notes:
The Integrated Fertilizer Management System (iFMS) has entered a new phase with several digital initiatives aimed at improving transparency, fertilizer availability and data-driven monitoring. iFMS is developed and technically supported by the National Informatics Centre (NIC) for the Department of Fertilizers. The system connects major stages of the fertilizer supply chain, including production, imports, movement, stocks, retail sales and subsidy processing. iFMS covers more than 14 crore Aadhaar-linked fertilizer buyers, over 2.5 lakh retailers and around 7 crore metric tonnes of annual fertilizer sales transactions. It also supports administration of nearly ₹2 lakh crore in fertilizer subsidies annually.

The Wildlife Trust of India (WTI), in collaboration with The Serenity Trust and the Department of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, provided essential field gear and equipment to frontline staff of Kamlang Tiger Reserve. Kamlang Tiger Reserve is located in the southeastern part of Lohit District, Arunachal Pradesh. It is part of the Eastern Himalayan Biodiversity Hot Spot. The reserve is named after the Kamlang River, which flows into the Brahmaputra River. It is bordered by Namdapha National Park in the south, Lang River in the north, Lati River in the west, and Tawe River in the east.

India’s squash player Abhay Singh won the men’s singles title at the Tuanku Muhriz Trophy 2026 in Seremban, Malaysia. The top-seeded Indian defeated Hong Kong’s Henry Leung 3–2 in the final of the PSA Challenger Tour 15 event. The victory marked Abhay Singh’s 13th PSA Tour title and his second title of 2026, following his Indian Open victory in Mumbai. Ranked World No. 24, Abhay is currently India’s highest-ranked men’s squash player.

The 13th North East Zone Shooting Championship 2026 was held in Guwahati, Assam. Laxuman Adhikari of Sikkim won a historic bronze medal in the Master Men’s 10m Air Pistol Individual category. It was the first-ever medal won by a shooter representing Sikkim at the North East Zonal level. Anu Chettri and Tshering Yangden Bhutia, both from Sikkim, qualified for the 69th National Shooting Championship 2026. Anu Chettri qualified in the 10m Air Pistol event, while Tshering Yangden Bhutia qualified in the 10m Air Rifle event. A total of 11 shooters from Sikkim participated in the zonal championship.

Notes:
Indian table tennis player Ankur Bhattacharjee won his maiden WTT men’s singles title at the WTT Feeder Olomouc tournament in Czechia. In the singles final, Ankur defeated Slovenia’s Deni Kozul, the third seed, 3–1. Ankur also won the men’s doubles title with fellow Indian Akash Pal. The Indian pair defeated Hungary’s Csaba Andras Szantosi and Poland’s Alan Kulczycki Zalewski 3–1 in the doubles final. Ankur had previously been a finalist at the Europe Youth Smash in Sweden in 2025.

The 11th Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit 2027 will be held from 10–12 January 2027 in Gandhinagar, Gujarat. The theme of the summit is “Viksit Gujarat – Shaping Global Future.” The summit aims to position Gujarat not merely as an investment destination, but as a growth engine for India. Gujarat is promoting sectors such as green hydrogen, green energy, semiconductors, technology and innovation through sector-specific policies. The summit will also provide impetus to sectors identified under ‘Saptdhara’ (seven streams of development), including agriculture and food processing.

The Development and Welfare Board for De-notified, Nomadic and Semi-Nomadic Communities (DWBDNC) organised “SAMAVESH UTSAV” at Bhim Hall, Dr. Ambedkar International Centre, New Delhi. The event focused on inclusion, empowerment and progress of De-notified, Nomadic and Semi-Nomadic (DNT) communities. Around 700 community members, leaders, artisans and beneficiaries participated in the event. The DWBDNC was constituted on 21 February 2019 by the Central Government to implement welfare and development programmes for DNT communities.

Union Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh inaugurated the “Green Forge” Complex at BRIC-National Agri-Food & Biomanufacturing Institute (BRIC-NABI), Mohali on 31 August 2026. It is described as a first-of-its-kind facility designed to support research on genetically modified (GM) crops under controlled environmental conditions. The facility has simulation chambers where light, humidity and temperature can be precisely varied to study crop performance under different environmental conditions. Green Forge can help researchers determine the suitability of GM crops for different geographical locations before field cultivation.

The 4th Indo-German Environment Forum was held in New Delhi on 1 September 2026. The Forum was co-chaired by Bhupender Yadav, Union Minister for Environment, Forest and Climate Change, and Carsten Schneider, Germany’s Environment Minister. The theme of the 2026 Forum is “Together For More Resilience.” The Indo-German Environment Forum is the highest-level bilateral forum between India and Germany on environmental policy. The Forum has been held since 2008 and provides a platform for cooperation on environmental protection and climate policy.

Notes:
The Indian Air Force International Squash Championship 2026 commenced at Base Repair Depot, Air Force Station Chandigarh. The event brings together leading Indian and international squash players, promoting sporting excellence and international camaraderie. The Chief of the Air Staff highlighted the role of international sporting events in promoting friendship, mutual respect and camaraderie among nations. The championship features six teams, including international teams from the United Kingdom and Sri Lanka, along with veterans.
