Pramod Mahajan Grameen Kaushalya Vikas Kendras in Maharashtra

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to launch 511 Pramod Mahajan Grameen Kaushalya Vikas Kendras (skill development centers) in Maharashtra via video conferencing. These centers, located in 34 rural districts of Maharashtra, are named after the late BJP leader Pramod Mahajan.

Skill Development Opportunities for Rural Youth

The skill development centers will offer training programs in various sectors to provide rural youth with access to employment opportunities. Each center is expected to train about 100 youngsters in at least two vocational courses. The training will be provided by industry partners and agencies under the National Skill Development Council.

Focus on Progress and Skilled Labor Development

The establishment of these centers is aimed at facilitating significant progress in the development of a more qualified and skilled workforce in the region.

Expansion Plans

Currently, there were no skill development centers in 28,000 gram panchayats (village councils) in Maharashtra. The plan is aligned with Indian government’s vision for skill development. The increase in the number of such skill development centers will prevent rural youth from migrating to cities in search of employment opportunities.
