Indian Culture Portal launched

The Union Minister of State(independent charge) for Culture and Tourism, Prahlad Singh Patel launched the Indian Culture web portal in New Delhi on Tuesday, 10th December 2019. The web portal was envisioned by the Ministry of Culture and was completely developed by a team from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bombay.
The curation of data for the web portal has been done by the Indra Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU).
The Indian Culture portal is the first authorized portal of the Government of Indian where cultural resources and knowledge of various organizations under the Ministry of Culture are available on the public domain in a single platform.
The portal has above 90lakh( 9 million) items available such as images, audio-video files, documents and other data from archives, academies, museums and libraries from across the country.
The content on the portal mainly comprises of e-books, manuscripts, rare books, virtual galleries, archives, musical instruments of India, gazettes, Indian National Bibliography, artifacts from the museum, cuisines, and UNESCO world heritage sites among others.
