Mukhyamantri Vrindavan Gram Yojana

The Madhya Pradesh government recently approved the Mukhyamantri Vrindavan Gram Yojana. This ambitious rural development scheme aims to transform selected villages into model sustainable communities. It integrates traditional values with modern practices to promote self-reliance and environmental sustainability. Alongside this, the Cabinet sanctioned major initiatives in infrastructure, education, welfare, and security sectors.
About Scheme
The scheme targets one village per assembly constituency with a population of at least 2,000 and 500 or more bovines. These villages will become ‘Vrindavan Grams’—model villages reflecting holistic rural development. The plan focuses on cow rearing, organic farming, solar energy use, water conservation, and rural entrepreneurship. Emphasis is also placed on cleanliness, greenery, spirituality, and economic independence.
Key Facilities and Infrastructure
Each selected village will develop six categories of facilities. These include gaushalas (cow shelters), schools, health centres, solar-powered water supply systems, libraries, cremation grounds, cow memorials, veterinary hospitals, and biogas plants. Infrastructure improvements will cover internal roads, solar street lighting, irrigation, public toilets, parks, and e-Panchayat services. The aim is to create a self-sustaining, well-equipped rural environment.
Employment and Economic Activities
The scheme promotes employment through milk collection centres, small-scale forest produce and agricultural industries, and craft and skill development centres. Cooperative dairy businesses will be expanded to encourage dairy self-sufficiency. Water conservation methods such as rainwater harvesting and pond preservation will support agriculture and daily needs.
Environmental and Social Goals
Environmental protection is a core focus. Natural farming will be encouraged to reduce chemical use. Religious sites will be preserved to maintain cultural heritage. Homestay-based rural tourism will provide additional income sources. The initiative also aims for 100% e-KYC coverage and updated land records to improve governance. Cleanliness, nutrition, and spatial planning will enhance quality of life.
Infrastructure and Other Government Initiatives
The Cabinet approved ₹4,572 crore for rebuilding 1,766 damaged bridges by 2030 to ensure year-round connectivity. A campus of Rashtriya Raksha University will be set up in Bhopal to boost education and employment in national security. Mess services will be introduced in 108 hostels for backward class welfare students with a budget of ₹31 crore. Additionally, 1,266 new posts, including 202 forensic scientific officers, were created to implement new criminal laws effectively.
Support for Tribal and Scheduled Caste Communities
New District Tribal and Scheduled Caste Coordinators’ Offices will be established in Mauganj, Maihar, and Pandhurna districts. A total of 48 posts have been sanctioned, with an annual budget of ₹3.81 crore to strengthen support and governance for these communities.
