India hosts 5th APDRC in Pune

The 5th edition of the Asia Pacific Drosophila Research Conference (APDRC5) is being held in Pune, Maharashtra, which is organized by the Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER), from 6th January to 10th January 2020.

The conference which is conducting for the first time in India has an aim to promote the interaction of Drosophila researchers in the Asia-Pacific region with their peers in the rest of the world.

Girish Ratnaparkhi, Girish Deshpande, L.S Shashidhara, Richa Rikhy, and SutirthDey are the organizers of the conference.

The conference will bring together scientists from all over the world who use the fruit fly, Drosophila, as a model organism in biological research for the last 100 years following which several discoveries have been made as its genome is entirely sequenced and there is any information available about Drosophila’s biochemistry, physiology, and behavior.

First Edition of Asia Pacific Drosophila Research Conference was organized at Taipei, followed Seoul, Beijing, and the fourth edition at Osaka in 2017 respectively.
