Sangai Festival 2019 begins in Manipur
Manipur Sangai Festival 2019 edition began on Sunday 24th November 2019 to promote tourism in the state.
The inaugural function of the festival was held at Hapta Kangjebung at Imphal. The Chief Minister of Manipur, N.Biren Singh attended the inaugural function as Chief Guest.
The State Tourism Department organizes the festival every year, which is held at different parts of Manipur.
Traditional folk dances, classical music, traditional games and cultural programs describing the rich heritage and culture of the state are performed during the festival.
Sangai is a brow-antlered deer found only in the state of Manipur, it has been declared among endangered and endemic subspecies. Sangai is also the state animal of Manipur.
