Queen Elizabeth-II creates history by attending cabinet meeting

Queen Elizabeth-II became the first peacetime British ruler since 1781 to attend a cabinet meeting.image

This was the first time a monarch had attended a cabinet meeting since George III did so. George I abandoned chairing cabinet in 1717.

Britain has a tradition of the monarch receiving a weekly private and confidential briefing by the Prime Minister.
