QRSAM successfully flight-tested from ITR Chandipur

Quick Reaction Surface to Air Missile (QRSAM) was successfully flight-tested from the Integrated Test Range(ITR), Chandipur located in the Baleswar district of Odisha on Monday, December 23, 2019. The Quick Reaction Surface to Air Missile’s technology is being developed by the Defence Research and Development Organisation(DRDO) and is being manufactured in India by the Defense Public sector Undertakings (DPSUs) Bharat Electronics Limited and Bharat Dynamics Limited.

The test mission successfully met the objectives by intercepting the aerial target in deployment mode with full configuration. The entire test mission was monitored by Range Radar Systems, Electro-Optical Tracking System, Ground Telemetry Systems, etc. The missile system operates on the move, comprises of Active Array Battery Multifunction, Active Array Battery Surveillance Radar, fully automated Command and Control System and Launcher. This trial mission marked the successful completion of the missile weapon system in its developmental phase.

The Quick Reaction Surface to Air Missile system was first test-fired on 4th June 2017, followed by another five tests conducted from July 2017 to August 2019. This was the seventh test conducted for the missile system and is expected to be inducted in the Indian Army’s weapon system by 2021.
