NITI Aayog releases report at United Nations: “Taking SDGs from Global to Local”

On July 13, 2020, Niti Aayog Vice Chairman Dr V K Paul released India’s second Voluntary Review (VNR) at United Nations High-Level Political Forum on Sustainable Development, 2020.

Highlights

The report titled “Decade of Action: Taking SDGs from Global to Local” focused on India’s new aspirations towards “vocal for local”. Also, the VNR report, 2020 reviewed the progress of 17 SDGs in India.

According to the report, India is currently engaged with local communities, people in vulnerable situations, civil society organization, local governments.

The report was presented along with Georgia, Bangladesh, Morocco, Kenya, Niger, Nepal, Nigeria and Uganda.

High Level Political Forum

The forum meets annually for eight days in the month of July. The reports presented are critical component of review progress and implementation of 2030 Agenda. The first VNR of India was presented by NITI Aayog in 2017
