Notes:
The 98th year celebration of World Thrift Day is marked on 30th October in India. The first International Thrift Congress which was held in Milan, Italy in 1924 had declared October 31 as the World Thrift day.
The aim of celebrating this day is to change our behaviour towards the saving and constantly reminds us the importance of wealth. This year the theme is ‘Saving prepares you for the future.’

Indian pair of Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty clinched the French Open Super 750 title with a straight-game victory over Chinese Taipei in the men’s doubles final.
Satwik and Chirag, who were the runners-up in the 2019 edition, have won the Indian Open super 500, Commonwealth Games gold, Thomas Cup and World Championships bronze. They have also won world tour titles such as hte 2019 Thailand Open and the 2022 Indian Open.

Indian shooters ended the ISSF World Championships campaign with the best-ever record of 38 medals, which placed India second in the tally after China.
The rifle/pistol competitions were held at Egyptian capital Cairo while shotgun competitions were held at Osijek, Croatia. In the previous world championships in Changwon, Korea in 2018, Indian squad finished with 27 medals. India also bagged three 2024 Paris Olympic quotas, this time.

Meghalaya government signed an MoU with the Credit Guarantee Fund Trust for Micro and Small Enterprises (CGFTMSE), to facilitate flow of credit to the MSE sector.
The MoU was signed CGTMSE under the Union Ministry of MSME to implement the ‘Meghalaya Credit Guarantee Scheme’. Currently, loans taken by MSME borrowers are covered under CGTMSE against a risk coverage of 75 per cent of the loan amount under various MSME schemes.

Notes:
Mauna Loa is the largest subaerial volcano in both mass and volume. The world’s largest active volcano is located in the Hawaii Island rising to 13,679 feet above sea level.
Hawaii officials have warned the residents that the volcano is sending signals that it may erupt. As the volcano makes up 51% of the Hawaii Island landmass, a large portion of the island has the potential to be affected by an eruption.

‘National Unity Day or Rashtriya Ekta Diwas’ is observed to commemorate the birth anniversary Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.
Patel, who served as the first Home Minister of India after Independence, is also known as the ‘The Iron Man of India’ for his efforts for the unification of over 550 princely states. This year marks the 147th anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has launched the pilot for a central-bank-backed digital rupee for the wholesale segment.
RBI announced this in a statement on ‘Operationalisation of Central Bank Digital Currency-Wholesale (e ₹-W) Pilot’. The nine banks selected for the pilot are State Bank of India, Bank of Baroda, Union Bank of India, HDFC Bank, ICICI Bank, Kotak Mahindra Bank, Yes Bank, IDFC First Bank and HSBC.

Ace racing driver Max Verstappen won the Mexico Grand prix title in the year 2022. Lewis Hamilton came in second position and his Red Bull teammate, Sergio Pérez, came in third position.
With his 14th win this year Verstappen has made the record as the driver with the most victories across a single F1 season. In 20 races he has surpassed the figure previously held by Michael Schumacher, who took 13 from 18 races and Sebastian Vettel, who took 13 from 19 races.

According to a report by the India Exim Bank, India has recently become a major exporter of defence products and will be able to meet Africa’s needs in maritime, aerospace, and defence sectors.
According to the report, Mauritius, Mozambique, and Seychelles together accounted for 6.6% of India’s arms exports to Africa between 2017-2021. India was the 23rd largest exporter of defence goods from 2017-2021.

Gross Goods and Services Tax (GST) collections rose to Rs 1,51,718 crore for October, for sales in September.
This the second highest level since the roll-out of the indirect tax regime in July 2017, after April 2022, as per the data released by the Finance Ministry. Monthly GST revenues have been above the Rs 1.4 lakh crore mark for the last eight months in a row.
