Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva has won Brazil’s presidential election by a small margin of 2 million votes thereby defeating incumbent Jair Bolsonaro.
Although the Left-wing former leader Lula wins presidency, incumbent far-right contender Jair Bolsonaro has not conceded his defeat yet. The election marked the first time that the sitting president failed to win re-election.

Indian shooters ended the ISSF World Championships campaign with the best-ever record of 38 medals, which placed India second in the tally after China.
The rifle/pistol competitions were held at Egyptian capital Cairo while shotgun competitions were held at Osijek, Croatia. In the previous world championships in Changwon, Korea in 2018, Indian squad finished with 27 medals. India also bagged three 2024 Paris Olympic quotas, this time.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the ‘Mangarh Dham ki Gaurav Gatha’ programme at Mangarh Dham in Rajasthan.
He paid homage to the sacrifices of unsung tribal heroes and martyrs of the freedom struggle. Mangarh is considered as a shared heritage of the people of Rajasthan, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh and Gujarat. On 15th November, the country is going to celebrate Janjatiya Gaurav Diwas on the birth anniversary of Birsa Munda.

The Union cabinet approved a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between India and Denmark on cooperation in the field of Water Resources Development and Management.
Both the countries launched a Joint Statement on establishment of Green Strategic Partnership. A Centre of Excellence for Smart Water Resources Management and a smart Lab on Clean River waters in Varanasi is also planned.

China has released plans to further expand the global reach of its home-grown Beidou satellite navigation system.
It is named as the country’s alternative to America’s Global Positioning System (GPS). Beidou set up a first of three Continuously Operating Reference Stations (CORS) for its network in Thailand in the year 2013.

Adani New Industries has installed India’s largest Wind Turbine Generator (WTG) at Mundra in Gujarat. The turbine is said to be taller than Statue of Unity (182 meters).
The turbine has been installed by Mundra Windtech Ltd (MWL), a wholly-owned subsidiary incorporated by Adani Enterprises Ltd (AEL).

The ‘International Day for Preventing the Exploitation of the Environment in War and Armed Conflict’ is observed every year on November 6.
In 2001, the UN General Assembly declared 6 November of each year as the International Day. In 2016, the United Nations Environment Assembly adopted resolution which recognized the role of healthy ecosystems and sustainably managed resources in reducing the risk of armed conflict.

Tesla Inc boss Elon Musk announced that he will serve as Chief executive of Twitter, the social media company he bought for USD 44 billion.
Musk also runs rocket company SpaceX, brain-chip startup Neuralink and tunneling firm the Boring Company. He had fired Twitter’s previous chief Parag Agrawal and other top company officials and proposed revisions to the platform’s user verification process.

Indian physician and scientist Dr. Subhash Babu has received the prestigious Bailey K. Ashford Medal for 2022.
He was also presented the ‘Fellow of the American Society of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene (FASTMH) award for 2022.’ This is the first time in 82 years, that the award has been given to an Indian scientist or an Indian institution for work.

American technology major Google has launched a platform that displays flood forecasts, namely ‘FloodHub’.
This platform shows the area and time where floods could occur, in order to inform people about the natural calamity. Google has used an AI technique called transfer learning to make it work in areas where there is less data available.
