Notes:
Bangladesh has recently banned the painkiller ketoprofen used widely to treat the cattle. With this it became the first country to ban all the drugs known so far to be toxic to vultures.
Over 10 years ago, the country banned the veterinary drug diclofenac. As per Ornithologists, this is a landmark step to save the small existing population of Asia’s globally threatened vultures.

According to the provisional data from the Union Commerce Ministry of India, the two-way trade stood at USD 77.7 billion last year.
With this, China regained its position as India’s top trade partner in 2020, with the higher reliance of India on imported machines. The bilateral trade with the United States stood at USD 75.9 billion. The UAE remains the third trade partner.

The Union Cabinet approved a proposal to impose President’s Rule in Puducherry. Earlier, the Congress-led Government in the Union territory lost power during a vote of confidence.
The Cabinet took the decision as no party came forward to stake claim to form the government in the UT, following the resignation of the Chief minister V Narayanasamy. After the Lieutenant Governor had recommended President’s Rule, the Cabinet has approved the same.

Vijay Sampla, former Union Minster recently took charge as the chairman of the National Commission for Scheduled Castes (NCSC), after being appointed by the President of India.
He served as the Union Minister of state for Social Justice and Empowerment from 2014 to 2019. Ram Shankar Katheria was earlier the head of NCSC.

The market regulator Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) has proposed to introduce a concept called ‘accredited investors’.
SEBI has noted that accredited investors, (also known as qualified investors or professional investors) are those who have an understanding of various financial products, the risks and returns associated with them. They can take informed decisions regarding investments and are recognised by many securities and financial market regulators globally.

Notes:
The Union Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, has finalised the list of products to be covered under One District One Focus Product (ODOFP).
This list has been prepared in consultation with the Union Ministry of Food Processing and Industries for 728 districts across the country. The identified products belong to agricultural, horticultural, animal, poultry, milk, fisheries and aquaculture, marine sectors.

The Union Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs has launched the field assessment for 6th edition of the Swachh Survekshan 2021.
The Swachh Survekshan commenced in the year 2016 as a competition enhancing framework to encourage cities to achieve high standards of sanitation under the Swatch Bharat Mission.

The Land Ports Authority of India was founded in 2012. It is a statutory body working under the Ministry of Home Affairs.
It is responsible for creating, upgrading, maintaining and managing border infrastructure in India. It manages several Integrated Check Posts all across Borders of India. The 9th foundation say of the Land Ports Authority of India was observed on March 1, 2021.

Notes:
The mass nesting of the Olive Ridley turtles began in Puducherry coastline. The traditional migration season of the turtles delayed due to climate change or change in the climatic conditions because of the influence of Cyclones Nivar and Burevi.
The turtles have been classified as vulnerable in the International Union for Conservation of Nature and Natural Resources (IUCN).

Notes:
India is sending a consignment of rice and hydroxychloroquine tablets to the drought-hit east African country in Madagascar.
The humanitarian assistance is being delivered on-board Indian Naval Ship (INS) Jalashwa, which will leave with the food and medical assistance and is expected to reach the Port of Ehoala in Madagascar by the third week of March.
