The 11th World Urban Forum was held in Poland. The National Institute of Urban Affairs’ (NIUA) Climate Centre for Cities (NIUA C-Cube), World Resources Institute India (WRI India) and their partners launched India’s first national coalition platform for urban nature-based solutions (NbS).
‘India Forum for Nature-Based Solutions’ aims to create a collective of NbS entrepreneurs, government entities and like-minded organisations, to aid in scaling urban nature-based solutions.

Novak Djokovic recently became the first player in history to win 80 matches in all four Grand Slams.
He achieved this feat when he defeated Korean player Kwon Soon-woo for his 80th win in Wimbledon. Djokovic was playing for the first time after losing to Rafael Nadal last month in the French Open quarterfinals.

The International Day of Parliamentarism is observed every year on 30 June, to recognise the importance of parliamentary systems of government in shaping modern societies.
This year, the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) and its members will observe the day under the theme of ‘Public engagement’ as the ‘Global Parliamentary Report on Public engagement in the work of parliament’ was recently released.

T Raja Kumar of Singapore has been appointed as the president of Financial Action Task Force (FATF), the anti-money laundering watchdog.
He has replaced Marcus Pleyer and will discharge his service for next two years. As per FATF, the President will focus on enhancing the effectiveness of global anti-money laundering  and counter-terrorist financing measures, improving asset recovery and other initiatives.

In the QS Best Student Cities Ranking 2023, London has been ranked as the best city for students looking to study abroad.
Seoul and Munich are at the second place. The report ranks 140 cities in terms of affordability, student facilities, and university standard among other factors. India’s highest-ranked student city is Mumbai at 103 spot. It is followed by Bengaluru at 114th rank.

The Delhi government introduced new assessment guidelines for school students. Under the new criteria, students will now be assessed for the impact of mindset curricula in their behaviour, along with other scholastic subjects.
It includes Happiness and Deshbhakti curricula for classes 3-8, while students of Class 9 and Class 11 will be assessed for Deshbhakti and Entrepreneurship Mindset Curricula.

NTPC signed a Memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the Government of Rajasthan to develop 10 GW Ultra Mega Renewable Energy Power Park in Rajasthan.
It aims to achieve the target of 60 GW of renewable energy capacity by 2032. NTPC REL is also developing one UMREPP of 4.75 GW capacity in Rann of Kutch, Gujarat.

Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE) announced that the National Apprenticeship Promotion Scheme (NAPS) will be included in the Direct Beneficiary Transfer (DBT) scheme.
The new facility will provide direct government benefits to all apprentices. Earlier, companies would pay apprentices the full amount and then seek reimbursement from the government. In 2016, the National Apprenticeship Promotion Scheme (NAPS) was launched to promote apprenticeship training in the country and to provide financial support to establishments pursuing apprenticeships.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi unveiled a 30-ft bronze statue of legendary freedom fighter Alluri Sitarama Raju on his 125th birth anniversary.
The 15-tonne statue was carved out at a cost of Rs 3 crore and installed by the Kshatriya Seva Samiti in Bhimavaram, Andhra Pradesh. The leader was known for the ‘Rampa Rebellion’ or ‘Manyam Uprising’, in the Rampachodavaram forest area, which was undertaken against the mighty British forces.

The 58-year-old Yair Lapid recently took over as Israel’s 14th prime minister after the country’s parliament dissolved.
The journalist-turned politician, has taken over as Israel’s caretaker prime minister as the country preparing to go for polls for the fifth time in four years in November. He built a coalition that ended Benjamin Netanyahu’s record 12 consecutive years in power.
