Notes:
India has announced 200,000 doses of COVID-19 vaccines as a gift to the UN peacekeepers. It will be sent on March 27 and will be distributed to the peacekeeping missions.
With this, it will be possible to administer the double doses of COVID-19 vaccines to all 85,782 UN peacekeepers serving in 12 peacekeeping operations across the world.

Notes:
A skyscraper-sized cargo ship MV Ever Given recently stuck in the Suez Canal near Suez, Egypt. As it stuck across the canal, over 150 other vessels which were to pass the waterway were waiting for the obstruction to clear.
Ever Given vehicle was carrying cargo between Asia and Europe. The Suez Canal is a narrow, man-made canal that divides continental Africa from the Sinai Peninsula.

The Left front government in Kerala has decided to recommend a judicial inquiry against the central agencies, including the Enforcement Directorate.
Earlier, the Crime Branch registered an FIR against some ED officials for derailing the probe in the gold smuggling and dollar cases. The state has decided to appoint Justice (Retd) KV Mohan to head the commission.

Every year on the March 25th, “International Day of Solidarity with Detained and Missing Staff Members” is observed by the United Nations.
It is marked every year on the anniversary of abduction of a former journalist – Alec Collett. He was working for the UN – Relief and Works Agency in Palestine when he was abducted by armed gunman in 1985.

The Prime Minister of India Shri. Narendra Modi is on a 2-day official visit to Bangladesh as a part of National Day celebrations in Bangladesh.
During his visit, he has inaugurated the “Bangabandhu-Bapu Museum” together with his counterpart of Bangladesh at the Bangabandhu International Conference Centre.

The Government has raised Rs 32,835 crore from disinvestment of CPSEs through share sale and buybacks during the year 2020-21.
Thus, the disinvestment target set in the revised estimates (RE) for current fiscal -Rs 32000 crore. Initially, Rs 2.10 lakh crore originally budgeted as the target for this year, but was later reduced to Rs 32000 crore, on account of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Notes:
As per a recent release by the Union Ministry of Corporate Affairs (MCA), it has registered more than 1.55 lakh companies in the financial year 2020-21 compared to a registration of to 1.22 Lakh companies during the previous FY 2019-20.
This increase in number of company registration is significant amidst the COVID 19 pandemic. It has been the result of various measures undertaken by the Government of India under “Ease of Doing Business” reforms.

The Government of India has announced scholarships to 2000 descendants of the Liberation War fighters of Bangladesh under its new Muktijoddha Scholarship scheme, which was announced it 2017.
The scheme aims to benefit 10,000 students from Bangladesh over a period of five years. This year, 1000 students each from the Higher Secondary and Undergraduate categories have been given as scholarship directly in their account.

Notes:
The Union Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEFCC) has amended the rules pertaining to location of thermal power plants within 10 km of major cities with more than 10 lakh population and the National Capital Region.
As per the amended rules, certain emission norms have been mandated to be adhered by the thermal power plants latest by the end of 2022.

The Union Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation (MoSPI) has recently released a report titled “Women and Men in India 2020”.
This report has been published by MoSPI since 1995 and this year’s report is 20th in the series. It provides gender related data for policy makers, planners and other stakeholders.
