Meghalaya: Wangala dance festival

The Hundred Drums or Wangala Festival of the tribal Garos began at Asanang village in Meghalaya’s West Garo Hills district in the second week of December .

The Wangala is the most important post-harvest festival of the Garos and is a thanksgiving ceremony to Misi Saljong and Minima Rokkime , also known as the Great Giver.

The festival first started in the year 1976 at Asanang and since then it is being held every year in the second week of November.
