Andhra Pradesh Green Hydrogen Valley Declaration 2025

The Andhra Pradesh government launched the Green Hydrogen Valley Declaration 2025 with a focus on making the State a leader in green hydrogen production and innovation. The declaration sets ambitious goals to harness the State’s renewable energy potential and coastline for clean energy transformation.

Strategic Vision and Objectives

The declaration aims to establish Andhra Pradesh as India’s largest green hydrogen ecosystem. It focuses on four key objectives – accelerating green hydrogen production and infrastructure, promoting domestic manufacturing and innovation, building technical and research capacity, and encouraging global partnerships. These goals align with the State’s broader ambition to lead India’s clean energy transition.

Electrolyser Manufacturing and Production Targets

A major target is to create 5 gigawatts (GW) of electrolyser manufacturing capacity by 2029. Electrolysers are essential for producing green hydrogen by splitting water using renewable electricity. The State plans to produce 1.5 million metric tonnes of green hydrogen annually by 2029. Reducing the cost of green hydrogen from ₹460 to ₹160–170 per kilogram is another critical goal, supported by a 25 GW Green Energy Corridor for power transmission.

Indigenous Supply Chain Development

The declaration emphasises building a local supply chain. By 2030, 60% of electrolyser components and storage solutions will be produced within Andhra Pradesh. The State plans to establish at least three production units to support this. This move aims to reduce import dependence and boost local industry growth.

Renewable Energy and Infrastructure Advantage

Andhra Pradesh’s abundant solar and wind resources, combined with its long coastline, provide a strong renewable energy base. The Green Energy Corridor will enable efficient transmission of renewable power to hydrogen production sites. This infrastructure is vital for scaling up green hydrogen manufacturing sustainably.

Research, Innovation, and Global Collaboration

The declaration promotes research and innovation through partnerships with global experts, industry leaders, and academic institutions. The recent Green Hydrogen Summit at SRM University Amaravati involved over 600 delegates and shaped policy frameworks. This collaborative approach ensures the State remains at the forefront of technological advances.

Sustainable Development Framework

The roadmap includes robust policies to support clean fuel production. It integrates governance models to ensure environmental and economic sustainability. The initiative aligns with India’s national goals to reduce carbon emissions and promote green energy.
