World Unidentified flying objects (UFO) Day

The World Unidentified Flying Objects (UFO) day is observed on July 2, besides June 24, worldwide to raise awareness among people on planet earth to gather together and watch skies for UFOs.

Key Points

  • Main goal of July 2 celebration is to create awareness of “undoubted existence of UFOs”. The day also seeks to encourage governments to declassify files on UFO sightings.
  • If there have been encounters with Extra-terrestrial beings (ETs), hen concerned countries are encouraged to share information with whole world.

Confusion over dates

Some people celebrate the World UFO Day on June 24 while others on July 2. June 24 marks the day when reporter Kenneth Arnold wrote about UFO. It is considered to be first widely reported UFO in United States. July 2 marks the 1947 UFO crash in Roswell. On July 2, the balloon debris from Roswell incident were recovered from a ranch near Corona, New Mexico. On July 8, 1947, Roswell Army Air Field issued a press release on recovering of a flying disc.

World UFO Day Organisation (WUFODO) declared July 2 as the official World UFO Day.

First World UFO Day

The first World UFO Day was celebrated by UFP researcher Haktan Akdogan in 2001.

This day is celebrated with the aim of spreading awareness regarding the existence of intelligent beings and UFOs from outer space. Also, observing this day encourages governments worldwide to share their knowledge about UFO sightings to public.
