Verily Tool

Verily, a subsidiary of Google, is to develop a tool for helping people determine whether they need to get tested for COVID-19 and where they could get tested.

About the Tool

The tool is to be used for triaging individual for COVID-19 testing. Verily is to make available, an online website, which would get people to fill out a questionnaire regarding their symptoms. After this, people would be directed to drive-through testing centres. The labs will then move to high throughput automated machines. It will then provide results in 24 to 36 hours.

Verily

Verily (Verily Life Sciences) is a research organisation concerned with studying life sciences. It is a firm under Alphabet Inc. which is the parent company of Google. The firm is developing the website as a part of its Project Baseline. Project Baseline was launched in 2017 to ‘bridge the gap between research and care’.

Triage

The term triage refers to the process of prioritizing patients’ treatment on the basis of the conditions’ severity. This would help in managing medical situations in which there are insufficient medical resources for treating a large number of people.
