Intranasal vaccine

Intranasal vaccine is an uncommon type of vaccine where it is administered in solution form via the nostril. It is sprayed into the nostril and is inhaled for uptake- instead of the usual intramuscular or subcutaneous routes of administration. It reduces the need for syringes, needles and alcohol swabs. Its non-invasive nature prevents needle-associated infections. The recently announced BBV154 vaccine from Bharat Biotech is an intranasal vaccine against COVID-19. Only a single dose of this vaccine is required per person.
